10 /11 Conditions: Rabbit Ears / Buffalo Pass

Buff was great today, though visability was tough due to the snow coming down. I'd guess about 6" to a foot of new. Over 7' at the tower now ... Was starting to clear as we left, Sunday should be the day (except for all the tracks we left behind)! :face-icon-small-ton

it totally sucked today at RE. there is no snow there at all.

We rode right by the columbine and rabbit ears snotel stations and some ******* took a snowcat and plowed a bunch of snow right up on the damned thing over the hoop thing

never seen anything like it.

probably still not worth a trip over there for another month or so :(

Is this for real? At first I thought it was just a joke to keep the foreigners away, but then I check the snotel data.

It goes from 41" on the 11th, to 178" on the 12th, back to 41" on the 13th.

I talked to a guy from Castle Rock yesterday though and he said he was just up there and it was unreal. Get off the trail and get in snow over your head! Diggin sleds out all day long! He figured there was well over 100" already.

So what are the real conditions at RE?

Rode near Buff from GC lot

Great snow in the trees. Crusty layer on top from warmer temps the night before. but 2+ feet of fresh over a decent base.

measured 7+ feet in multiple places.

roads were slick for sure....slow and steady wins the race...hope you guys were ok....looked like a fun ride!

I'd say the snow was pretty good ;)

Yep .. that was it. But I hear Sunday was warm, so it probably setted some. New storm mid-week!

Nice vid TD .. they keep planting those trees in the wrong places, though!

:beer;

It must have maybe even rained a little over sat nite? Was a funky crust on top of the pow with a little fresh on top of that. Not enough to mess up your line...but you could hear it chunking up as you rode.

First half of the day it was freezing the outside of everyones goggles.

Going to make for a funky layer...something to watch.

Went down into and out of a 6' creek hole in the whiteout that was Sunday. Bashed into the bars then flew back and grabbed throttle. Somehow I popped out with just a raked shin. Pretty windy and warm and setting the snow up. Icy layer formed so keep an eye out for that. Was blower by the end of the day in spots.

you got it bro, just a few miles outa kremtucky. you drive buy or what???

No, I live here and I recognized the sage brush and landscape. Just didn't get a call from the wife asking if I was ok. She usually hears all the call outs and if she knows I'm in the area she calls to check.

I drove real slow in 4high. The roads the entire way were glazed over pretty good and I could feel my wheels slipping alot. Longest drive to RE I have ever done.
