few questions, ive read ALOT of bad about these engines, a dealer has a used one for 8500$ with 1500 miles.
are they even rideable? ive read that the engine always fail and lots of problems with them, is this a good sled to buy?
These sleds are fun to ride when they work ok, there have been more than notable failures with them and I have listed the top 4 concerns below.
1. Fuel Mapping, hestitation, stumble, bog concerns
2. VR - voltage regulator failures
3. ECU - electronic engine control unit will somtimes go out when the VR frys on the high side
4. Engine burn down concerns usually due to lean conditions
There are some other less common things as well but you can find one guy with 6000 miles before some failure and then my 09 D8 has 93 miles on it and it just lost a VR and maybe a ECU?
there are concerns, but on an 08 or 09 I would replace the VR(about 120), install a PC-5 fuel controller, replace fuel filter, and make sure the engine is in good shape to begin with..price wise..that sounds spendy..our dealer here was selling 10 hold overs for 8900...I have my 08 dragon 163 in here either mostly stock(still 3-4000 in mods) for 6500 and with all mods for 7500(abouts 6000 in mods), and it has a new topend, pc-5, camo extreme ,drop and roll, holz skid, holz frt end, carls valved float-2's, 10 frt plastic, 10 swaybar, clutching, gearing, slp single, and custom tunnel work...(as well as rebuilt clutches, steering linkages, bearings/seals in the chaincase...and a bunch of other stuff..I sure wouldnt pay 8500 for a used rmk with miles on it...
yea but this is in CANADIA eh! lol a new pro rmk 800 163 is 14 200$ not including taxes, so for 7800$ is what i would offer not even looking at it, its a pretty good deal for me.
all the electronic stuff is it easy to get to? i know on my fusion i have to take the entire gas tank off to get to my electrical.
and for belts in stock form how is it?
