09 m8 with mod and clutching questions

i just bought an '09 m8 and ordered the slp pipe kit including the y, pipe, and silencer and the power comander pcIII (which slp said i dont need unless i have the cylinders ported). also thinking about ordering the slp big air intake. i am wondering what clutching i should be running with the mods i have done and what other mods people recommend to get them running good. i ride at 1000' at home and 8 to 10,000' out west. just a question as to whether or not anyone has used the slp 44/38 helix and green spring and what weights you guys would recommend using in the primary with that secondary setup- not a clutching wizard and new to the cats so any help would be greatly appreciated.

i am running the cat oem titanium spring ( like the org/w )
i am running stock cat 68 gr for 4-7,000 pulling correct r's
stock secondary spring ( org.) w/ the shift assist and the bdx 44/38 helix
runs like it should.

i would not bother to put the pc3 on until you get the porting done as well.
nice thing is , your almost there, and w/ the slp mapping it should be pull and go and worth the additional $$.....at least i hope so, i am planning on the porting and pc3 also this season...mm

Mike, what r's are you pulling with those 68's I just installed my slp pipe y etc and I started out with stock cat clutching for 6-8k. 73g weights, Yellow/w stock primary and orange secondary. I have installed the shift assist and changed to rock rollers. I'm also still running the stock 36 helix. According to my SLP paper work this clutching should be fine except for their mtx weights which I do not have. On my 1st ride I only pulled 7600. I am about 230 fully geared. I have dropped down to 70g primary weights but have not been back out for testing. Thanks

thanks guys for the posts-i've been looking into the bdx intake and will probably buy that- is there any need for the pcIII after the intake is installed and down the road when i do the porting will slp have a fuel map for the bdx intake and slp pipe since it looks like the bdx is going to get much more air into the motor than the slp intake?? also any hints as to getting the bdx intake set up just right? ive heard of people getting snow into the intake and having problems and where do you guys get the shift assist and does it really work that good? thanks for all the help!!!

I ran the slp pipe on my 09 M8 all last season and I liked the 70G weights for 6-9K riding a lot better than the 68's. The 70's pulled much harder and I had better track speed. Fully geared I weigh 225 so I am about the same weight as you. If you are going to go with 68G weights than I would install the slp 40/36 helix to make up for the loss of bottom end due to the light weights. If you want to run the stock helix than install some cat 70G weights with a speedwerx White H5 primary spring wich is a 125/340 spring. Another great primary spring is the D&D 150/330. That will get you to the 8000rpm range up high in the deep and pull super strong. A lot of people liked the lighter spring with the 68G weights but I tried that setup and much prefer the 70G weights with the heavier spring. I tried both combo's back to back and the 70's get my vote. The speedwerx H5 primary spring is made of a different material that is suppose to hold tension a lot longer.

i am running ( currently ) the stock 68's because i first tried slp's clutching recommendations but didn't have the mtx weights. i had cutler adjustables
70-80gr weights and on a trail ride ( low load ) w/ no added weight and only pulled 7950. i called slp tech and they recommended the 68's over the cutlers w/ no added weight.after ridding it , it runs good, but little to no torque by not loading the motor w/ the added weight , but i think the helix makes it work pretty well over all.i will over spin a bit at lower elevations but hits 81-8200 up over 6,000 ft elev.

On my 08 162 after installing the SLP pipe I decided on starting with the stock primary spring and 73.75g weights. Pulled 7900 RPM and held right there in about 30" of powder at 5000'. I'm also running an RKT secondary though. I'm just gonna try an SLP 140/300, and a D&D 135/330 to see which spring will get me in the sweet spot and she should be a done deal.

09 m8 sp 162

rode sat in north colorado 9500 11500, 3' of new snow bad air, slp y, pipe, can, skins intake,ez-ride,66g ,yellow-white spring, stock 36 and orange spring ,54-66 gears runs 8200 all day long forget the multi angle helixs they don't work at altitude peroid

i ordered the bdx intake for my '09 m8 and will be putting it on this weekend- anyone running the pcIII box with the slp pipe kit and bdx intake?? just wondering if there is a fuel map floating around that one could download to really make the sled run good. i will be riding at 1000' and 8-10000' if there are any maps- thanks guys for all the help!!!
