09 800 Assault 146 to 155

A friend of mine broke his stock rails again on his 146. So he decided to get some Ice Age rails. Hes moving up to a 155. We have the track and skid ready to go. Do you think he has to do some gearing for it to feel right? Or Clutching? Thanks for the input.

shouldnt have to screw with the clutches maybe a tooth smaller on top gear. gonna do the same thing to mine. hope it works great

x2 on the 19-42 gearing. i did it this past summer and i'm disappointed i didn't do it earlier.
which track is he looking at doing? 155x2.5 CE rips with that gearing...... but thats my 2 cents.

No need to change clutching. I have done this to my Assault. You might consider changing mounting holes, from the Assault hole to the RMK/Dragon hole.

are there any issues with cooling being that you're missing that extra cooler length? and what does mounting the skid to the dragon holes do for you?

Are you going with the 5.1 track because it fits better? I'm thinking of doing the same thing.. 146 to 155 swap, and I'm on the fence about what track, 5.1 or CE 2.5. I dont want to drop and roll to fit the 2.5 perfectly but have read the CE will work. I think the assaults 19/42 gearing would be perfect

Whoops just noticed the original post date, any input on the 155 CE track would be appreciated, thanks

I live in northern Il. I ride here, northern Midwest and 2 trips planned out west this year for the end of January, and beginning of April, the stock track has done very well for most conditions except deep powder and is still in ok condition after about 1300 miles. I'm thinking that Jan trip is going to suck without a powder track, so if I'm swapping tracks why not 155? Or just buy a new Pro 155 and keep the assault 146 for spring snows, I'm very close to buying a new sled for next season and I don't want to dump tons into the assault which I'm also keeping, dumping the short tracks, not used anymore.
I like riding in the tight/steep/ trees and cornice drops but not much of a jumper, trails and miles not fun for me anymore

I'd keep your 146 comp track for your riding area in Illinois.

Depending where out west you ride is probably get a Polaris 5.1 and call it good in the 155" length.
