05 summit engine bog...

Looking for some help/ideas...
05 summit 800 with new crank and pistons with 100 miles on them. The motor was rebuilt and installed by a snowmobile mechanic so I trust it was done correctly. The engine will bog and act like its not getting enough fuel. When climbing a hill 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and it will bog on me so i turn out and it will barely run and sometimes even quit on me on the way down the hill. In order to get the sled running again I need to choke it and it takes 2 pulls usually. Now riding back to the lodge it would even bog badly just on the trail running 1/4 throttle and would barely run. I pump the throttle just to keep it running and it will come out of it momentarly. I put new plugs in it today hoping it would help, but nothing. I check them and they are clean and dry. I am going to check the fuel filter tomorrow and I am open to all ideas about this.

Bog

Clean/replace jets, fuel filter, intake leaks, fuel pump, fuel tank pick ups & valve, reeds, water in fuel, DPM and hoses.

All the above need to be eliminated first before you get to the hard stuff!

The engine will bog throughout the entire rpm range....

I suspect you are experiencing light seizures... did you rebuild with OEM pistons or aftermarket? I would pop the RAVEs out and look for scuffing.. also a compression check may reveal something.

Other possibilities would be the carb bowls running dry or fuel pump not getting a good pulse signal...

Thanks for the ideas. I brought it to a skidoo mechanic today and he was lost. No idea what it could be. Told me I didn't have enough fuel in it. But the tank was full when it was acting up...
The clutch side spark plug was fouling so I will start with new wires. And if that doesn't work I will check the areas mentioned.

I was having a similar problem on my 05 rev 800 with 1400 miles. Replaced the needle and seats in each carb and problem is gone...runs strong now with no bog. Order a couple of polaris needle/seats and save a few bucks since skidoo will cost you about 120 each and you need two. These are very easy to change with the carbs off. Good Luck
