After putting 2000 mi on my RT1000x--I love it--it is heavy and the end of the day you know it--but it will run with 98% of the machines on the hill once you can use it to its max. There are a few things (as most sleds) that need to be done to make them rock--but nothing major. If you like arm pulling power--this i the sled once you get the clutching nailed--it pulls and pulls and pulls some more.:)

You did good on the trade--They are both worth about the same dollars.

H20SKE...

yeah my buddys pretty savvy he is great to help me get the clutching figured out comes with hps can and high altitude clutch cant wait to point it up the mountain!!!!!! ya just dont hear much about them (1000rt) anymore. im stoked!!!!!

I love mine. Yeah like everyone says there a little more heaver then most newer sleds but they come stock with around 170HP then add a can oh man you got a good reliable mountain sled. Get the 07 programing on it and get the clutch dialed in. Its the best sled I have ever owned!!!

Agree, great very reliable if keep engine stock.
This sled demands a break in for the RIDER for some 100 miles.
This is'nt a sled to wrestle with, it will throw you off and spit on you laying there, you have to learn to use the weight to work for and with you.
Find the balance in the sled, and learn how to sidehill this heavy RAW POWER sled .
Get a good riser, clutch kit and 07 mapping and you're good to go almost where you want.
Good buy:D

One of my buddies rides one, and he's about 150 lbs soaking wet. He's a good rider though, and can put that thing some places that are downright scary.

Like others have said, it's heavy, but once you get used to it you will like it.

I had.... an RT, what a pile of poop. I am 6 6 250. I now have an XP, even with the belt issues, the riding experience has never been better. Let me reiterate. GIANT PILE OF POOP

my riding partner has an 07, he is on his second motor, approx 7 mountain rides last year and 5 so far this year. He asked the dealer what he could do to stop blowing it up and the response was "sell it, it's a peice of junk, that's why Doo doesn't make them anymore". What a load of crap. Anyways, he loves it when its running but is tired of getting pulled out. Also his stock pipe blew apart 3 times, melted the hood and belly pan.

Good dealer, instead of finding out what was wrong he told him to sell it.
Maybe he did'nt have the knowledge or he wanted to sell him a new one.

It was the mechanic at the dealership, he is apparently a really good mechanic, but limited people skills! Both motor failures have been a piston skirt breaking off. He asked if he should buy aftermarket pistons to fix the problem and the mechanic said they would be even worse. Both times BRP has come through with a new short block on warranty, but next year his warranty is done and he would rather not have to pay to fix the problem then.

Sorry his sled broke twice but the most summit 1000 today works real good now when all the issues have been sorted out.
For this engine to be reliable I would keep it stock and focus on clutching, gearing and other soft tuning.
People puts aftermarket exhaust parts, nos and BB kits on their sleds without adjusting fuel/air delivery right and I believe thats often the reason to why they go down.

About his warranty going out I dont think it works like that.
If he buys a new part there should be new warranty from the purchase day on that particular part.

I have a 06 RT 1000 and I am 320lb this thing is a monster and the funnest sled I have ever ridden. I also have the 151 so its a 6inches shorter on the snow than the 162 not sure what difference it would make.

I am going to check and see how much the 07 map costs and not sure that gearing or clutching could be improved what changes are you all making.

I have a can on mine and OHHH it sounds sweet I have long been a Polaris triple guy so ....NEVER AGAIN will I ride it.

This is the funnest sled I have ever ridded!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 23/49 original, now put 21/49 on and that 2 makes big diff I think.
You probably have 21/49 so if your not in the worst mountains you may be ok.
Clutching; well that made huge change to my sled, bought a clutch kit from DJ @ http://www.mxzx-revzone.com/.
Kit included adjustable pinweights from 14 to 25g, primary spring and helix.
This was a good start kit and with the adjustable pinweights you can start finetune it yourself.
My belts lasts longer it's smoother at low end and pulls way better @ WOT.
Just my 2 kronor
