Any years better than others? This will be the last year of the Pro X 2 as a main sled. I had a 2007 Dragon... Had too many issues wasn't a fan. The 800 CFI is a big pile too. Wont get another polaris sled. Done with Polaris for now and Not sold on the XP chassis just yet. Leaning toward 05-07 preferably 07 XRS 800 (how is the 1000???) if I can find one when the time comes. Might be mid season. What do I need to know, look for, what sleds are the best?

doo it!

go for the 1000. with a little preventative maintenance these sleds are unstoppable. i'm kinda partial because i've been researching them for over a year and i just bought one a month ago.

I was in the same boat not too long ago. The short summary is:

- 06 is considered to be the best year of the Rev platform. If you can find one in good shape with decent miles, you should go for it. Unfortunately people want a lot of $ for a mint 06 Summit.

- If you can get an 07 with a new motor installed preferably in 09, you should be good to go since many of the new motors installed in 08 still had some issues with the motors in 07

- Oh yeah, apparently the clutching sucks on the 07 but me being a new rider, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

05 had softer running boards not JUNK but had to have stiffners, they are great i had two 05s 1 800 1 600 loved both,06 out off the bocks is a good strong runner.

the 07 sleds i think are really good. my dad has the normal motor that was suposed to have the problems with it and he has 1500 miles and nothing has been wrong with it.

07's

I think that the 06's were the best year. I have an 07 now and it is ok but the 06 just seemed to handle a bit better. The early 07's that were spring checked -mostly xrs and x models had the most motor problems. Mid run they figured out the motor problems. Most of the adrenelanies had the updated motor. Many of the short blocks that were sent out to replace damaged motors under warranty were still defective. (They were blowing them out for about $1200 if you could find the right part number) The last I checked there are not short blocks listed in the parts catalog for the 07's at all. Shoot once its out of warranty they all cost the same to rebuild- so buy the cleanest one you can find for the best deal..

I have an 05 summit 800. 3,000 miles and no trouble with anything, and i have beat the snot out of this thing. It is a great sled and loads of fun. Might want to get different seat and handlebars if your a taller rider though (just a thought). Great riding and good luck!!

Thanks for the info guys.. I appriciate it. Looks like this is going to be a midseason thing as long as we get some decent snow. :beer;:beer;

If you can find a 07 that has been updated would say do that. The extra horsepower is noticeable and nice to have. If not go would say go with an 06. Solid sleds that year. Good Luck!!!!

FWIW- My 06 siezed up a couple of days ago. Just hit 1,000 miles on it. Pulled out by 2 07's both with more milage on them and no issues so far. I'd say its just the luck of the draw. Go with whatever you can get a deal on, they are all peices of s##t in the end! HHaa!

04 and 05 were good sleds, 06 was same ALL the way around except ptek on the motor 07 was the 800r and ptek. I would say 07 with new motor, every HO I've ridden with cannot compare in power with the R motor.
