$.02 on 05 800 skidoo's?

my friend blew up is 05 engine last winter with 2000 miles.cost him 3000 for new engine.hes pretty much an easy trail rider.thats all know.

my buddy rides one , runs great good power great chassis, i think they had some issues with the hard chroming on the rings separating and causing poor heat transfer but i think you can upgrade them to the 06 pistons.
all in all i would recomend the sled and i ride polaris lol

bad rings and bad carb boots, A dynamoe joe clutch kit works good. Other than that there a good sled. Skis suck also.

I have one and I love it. I bought it used with about 1900 miles on it and I put new pistons and rings in because of what I heard. This thing just runs great...I have no complaints at all. Great sled and I don't think you would be disappointed.

Might want to replace the pistons if they haven't yet. Better safe than sorry.

I have one with 4500 miles on it. Engine is still strong. Best sled I have owned. If they were still available new I would head down and get another.

Good sled, if it has the original rings, replace, you can see if they need replacing by taking the rave valve off and looking inside. they would be pitted on the edge. Usually there is no piston/cylinder damage.

I have 5000+ KM on mine, did the rings at 3000, and it looked like new, other than the rings.
Skis suck for sure, get a boss seat, and some good clutching/gearing and you will be happy for sure...

Oh and make sure the nun is still straight.... and the carb boots might have delaminating, other than that it is a good sled,/

I just bought one from a friend of mine that I ride with. He's also a sled tech and has done all the needed updates. He did a top end rebuild at about 2300 miles, and the engine performance improved greatly after that. There used to be an issue with getting it to start after being out riding for awhile on a sunny day. We'd have to pull 20 to 30 times to get it to start. After the top end rebuild, no problems at all. The skis are upgraded to ski doo 6.9 pilot skis and he also went from a 144 to 159 track. Also, he put on a mbrp performance can so it sounds sweet, increased the horsepower a tad, and reduced the weight about 9 pounds. I've ridden this sled quite a bit in the past, but I'm pretty excited for it to be all mine this coming season. Awesome sled!

i had one and loved it ,but it got replaced it with a 800r. only thing i had wrong with it is the crank went out at 4000 miles. reconditioned cranks are 1500.00 so it wasnt to bad. parts are cheaper to replace on the 05 than the 07. good sled.:beer;

The 05 800 is an awesome sled.....

It does need skis SLP Poweder Pros work great...

Boss seat makes riding much more enjoyable..

Bars and risers make stand up style riding easier..

I rode mine to about 2800 miles with no issues. I did a complete rebuild just for preventitive maintenence..

Get one you can't go wrong!!!!!!

Oh by the way I am selling mine to make room for my 09 XP!!!!

It is a 151 also has V-Force reeds.. Blue Yellow with custom Graphics..

I live in Hood River Oregon

Asking $5800

my buddy has one with 5000km (3000 miles) and the only thing that happened was the exhaust bolts backed out and ****ed up the jugs so bombardier replaced the top end under warrenty. So just make sure you put lock tight on the exhaust bolts and then you got a wicked sled

Great Sled

I have owned an 05 800 for the past 2 years. First year, stock, no problems but ended up the season wanting a little better performance. Put on the powder pros from SLP, a Boss highrise hardtail, super Q can, air venting system and removed the big black rear tail light housing. Loved it. Ran great all season. Uses more oil and plugs than I would like but hey...it's a 2 stroke and I ride hard. Gave it to the wife this year with 1800 miles on it. BF has an '04 with the '05 tunnel and a arms, he traded it in two weeks ago with 4300 miles on it for a new xp. He loved his also. Good luck
