02 edge 800 ves timing specs?????

Hello all I'm having a top end bog on my 02 800 edge to won't rev over 7200 rpms and it bogs of the line when I really get on it....I replaced the spring in my clutch and it all looks good I cleaned my carbs and moved the main down one to a 480...the main question I have is what are the timing marks supposes to be at and I know I need to disconnect my tps..I read 28* at 2000 rpms is that right? Do I leave the key on unleaded or premium when I do it? Is the tps connection the black plug with a few wires coming from it by my carbs?? Tusks for any of the help!!

I doubt it's the timing

check the exhaust valves, clean those, check the rubber diaphragms for rips & tears

I checked my bellows look good I checked my exhaust valves they are pretty clean checked my timing looks good 29 degrees at 3200rms I moved my main jets down to a 480 made no diffrence...I used a main jet out of a vm40...isn't these a tm40??? Are the main jets different??

It could be the throttle needle clip position. The higher the needle is clipped in, the leaner the gas/air mixture since the throttle needle will ride lower and allow less gas. You probably need more gas, so you drop the clip by one notch until at least one of those bogs goes away.

I wasn't aware that you could manually adjust the timing as that is embedded in the CDI box.

You also may have a fuel pump issue where the fuel pump cannot keep up with the demand for gas. You buy and install a new diaphragm or take the old one and flip it over in order to allow the smooth side of the nickel sized plastic diaphragm, to contact the surrounding metal valve.

Timing can be adjusted, but need to slot the holes or use an offset key (sold by hi-perf.com, BMP and others) to accomplish that

Dropping the needle (Raising the E-clip) = LESS GAS

Needles are up to approx 1/4 throttle, after that the needle is far enough out of the needle jet it has no effect, certainly does NOT effect top end

i would have your tps values checked, and before you go adjusting jets read the plugs to figure out which way you need to go, if at all. another thought are the reeds, while the carbs were out did you check the petals?
