’14 or snow check ‘15

looking to get a new sled. i’m pretty sure I am going to get a pro. just want some opinions on which direction i should go, either a ’14 or snow check a ‘15

i can get a ’14 now from my dealer for $9900 or get a ’15 for $11700. after tax and set up it ends up being about $2200 difference.
if i check a ’15 i will get the clicker shocks, tunnel bag, and lower bars and choose color.
if i get a ’14 i can upgrade the shocks to whatever and get other accessories.
both get golden tickets and 3 yr warranties.

which direction should i go? suggestions?
thanks

Based on your math, that boils down to $1200 difference in real dollars when you take into consideration the $1000 golden ticket. So i would go with a 2015. You would get better shocks, bag, choice of bars, and your choice of color, rather than the standard 2014 color. :))

Cheers!

thanks for the input. but the difference is indeed $2200 not 1200. the price of the sleds alone is $1800 difference, then the diff on tax, additional set up charge on the 15 and increased registration.

both have the golden ticket

oh also, dealer said they would swap side panels to another color without charge

If you go with a 14' upgrading shocks is going to cost you in the neighborhood of $1500 plus labor if you have your dealer install which is going to get you close to the price of a 15'. I'd check a 15' and customize it to your liking, but maybe just me being biased cuz that's what I did:face-icon-small-coo

Really depends on what you're planning on doing.

Shock revalve can be a few hundred dollars to complete set of custom raptors at over $2000... so depends how far you want to go.

If you want all those bags anyway, how much would they cost seperate? something like $300+

Then future resale on a '14 is going to be less than on a '15 obviously because its already a year old...

I think the painted rails and tunnel on the '15 hold some value too.

if your dealer could knock off another $600 or so from the '14 then I think that would be a good deal. If not then I would just snowcheck and get what you want from the start... jmo

How are you getting a golden ticket on a 14 hold over?

because polaris is giving golden tickets on ‘14s as well during the snow check period
if the golden ticket was not available on the 14, it would not even be a consideration

Is that solid intel on the golden ticket? My dealer tells me no golden ticket on the 14's. I am trying to decide the same thing right now myself.

my dealer originally said no and even let me read through all the literature they had from polaris. i did not see anything about the ‘14s there. but about 2 hours after i talked to them, they called and said they had just talked to the rep and received a fax from polaris that said yes. i was confused because i read here on snowest that people were getting the ticket with ’14.
i have since talked to 2 other dealers in the area and they have said yes.
i am actually going to one of those dealers now to get in writing quotes. i will ask again to make sure. i am also going to question the warranty and make sure it is 3 years on the ’14. polaris has it posted on the website under promotions. if it is not, i will get the 15

Even though resale on the 14' will be less down the road your also paying less for it as well. $1800-$2000 difference I would go 15'

well i just got home from going to one dealer. on the ’14 the deal is not as sweet as originally stated. in order to get a 3 year warranty it is an additional $800:face-icon-small-sad

i am waiting for the other dealer to get back to me on a price. if it is indeed more money to get a 3 year warranty, then the debate is over. i will get a ’15.

the ’14 has to be a hell of a deal for me to go that route

The warranty is a important piece to me not because I've had to use it but it is huge when you sell your sled. People just don't feel good unless they have that.

$2200 is huge. That's half of a turbo if you intend to go that route. Or for that much you can have a full blown shock package like my super sweet Zbroz X1's on all shocks!

dealer is ripping you off on the warranty. thats not the actual cost for 3 year plan... should be about $450 for 3 year if purchased up front. Dealers gotta make money i suppose.

In all honesty if you can pick up 14 with 3 year warranty and a golden ticket for around 9.6k OTD, thats pretty sweet deal. Because you should be able to get a 15 std rmk with all the goodies (shocks, bags, e-start, painted tunnels) for around $11.5k OTD.

Those going for the golden ticket pretty much know they are going to purchase a new sled in 16 or 17, so you have to ask yourself if the 2k upgrade price for the 15 will be recovered in resale... personally I think you will see a market flooded with 13,14,15s next year when the axys mountain with the new HO motor comes out. I dont see recovering 2k in resale (maybe 1k just for the shocks), and I think 14,15 will be going for roughly the same price next year.

dealers here are at $9900 for a '14 before any fees or tax and 1 year warranty. 1 dealer just charges tax. other charges $100 set-up then tax. reg and license are done at dmv

for a ’15, 1st dealer is at 11,700 plus tax, no fees
other is at 12,000 plus tax and $250 set up...

local dealer is the more expensive one. i would like to keep my business local. service after the sale is key. i bought my proclimb from them last year and i am there fairly often. but paying $5-600 difference is painful...:face-icon-small-con

To assume at this time that the earlier Pros will drop out of the picture in '16 because of a new Pro is a little premature IMO.

First, you short change yourself a season. Second, Poo might wait til '17. Third, remember the Proclimb lol. Fourth, remember the M-sled.
Sometimes when it's right it stays right forever.

I wish I would have held out instead of buying a 2013 at the end of last year......I would have Snow Checked a 2015 RMK so that I could have the extra cooler.

My Pro always is running HOT, especially with this great Washington snow.

got solid price on warranty from my local dealer. it is an additional $400 for 2 extra years.

i’m leaning towards just getting a ’15.

Sounds like a good plan. That is exactly what i would do if i was in you position :)

happens with any sled anytime a new chassis comes out. The old chassis take a huge hit in price.
and no polaris will not wait till 2017 to release axys mountain.
