If people wont be sledding no more and switching there everyday sleds to race sleds, thats ok with me 'cause, that means there will be more virginia snow for MEEE! :D

Drag racing for me.....Who's first to the hill? First out of the parking lot? I guess maybe some sno cross too when the groomer doesn't smooth out the trail to the boondocking.

Isn't this forum called SnoWEST. The key word being WEST, where we ride the mountains. I'm addicted to mountain riding, the price of fuel changes nothing.

wtf?

try Johndee.com

but if your going to race than your going to race, who decides to go racing cuz gas is to high?

OK, some members hit on some of the things the MFG was looking for. When riding, (No matter what kind) you have and this is not limited to these, but here goes.

(Note: Cost of the snowmobile, snowmobile registration, trail permit, etc. "Figure the cost of each and divide by how many times you ride per year to get the daily cost:". Example, A trail permit costs, lets $20.00 and to make things simple let's say you ride 20 days per year. Each day cost $1.00 for the trail permit.) (Now the snowmobile, let's say it costs $8,000.00 and you ride 50 days per year. You ride the snowmobile 4 years before selling it. This mean you ride it 200 times. Divide 200 into the cost of 8000.00 and you'll find it costs $40.00 each time to ride. )

PER DAY COST OF RIDING:

Cost of the snowmobile
Fuel consumption cost for the sled.
Oil comsumption cost (unless 4 stroke)
Trail Permits for the sled
Registration for the sled
Beverage consumption for the sled operator (hopefully non-alcoholic until after the ride is over :) )
Food consumption for the sled operator
Hotel/Motel Cost for most snowmobilers (unless you are like me and live where you can ride)
Fuel cost for the tow vehicle (again, unless you live where you can snowmobile)
Plus a lot more other items that we are not going to list.

I guess I'm missing the point.. Other than an accounting class, what does any of this have to do with whether we ride in the mountains or just wish one did?

Food and drink are a mute point. Don't know about the rest of you, but I gotta eat regardless of if I'm riding or not..

I think your missing the point, most of the guys on here would find a way to sled regardless of the the cost involved. Its a way of life. Some of the stuff you got on there we would have to pay even if we didn't ride. Food @ Drink, last time I checked I have to buy that stuff wether Im sittin on my couch watchin the stupid box or if I am on the hill.Trail and Registration? Around here its one and the same. The biggest point is, You don't get into sledding with the idea that its going to make you money, You realize its expensive and once you get that into your head you don't really care about the cost. All you care about is blue bird days with a couple feet of fresh and your buddies tearing it up in the trees. Oh yea and if you ride a doo, where your going to carry your spare belts:D
