3. Ski-Doo 850 Summit X 163
Here’s where what I know I love and what I know works every time for my style comes into play. The 850 Summit is my dream machine. Everything about this sled suits my riding style. It’s almost like I had a meeting with some Ski-Doo engineers a few years back and made a wish list of what would make the ideal Summit. Then, BAM! The Gen4 Summit 850 appears from behind a curtain like a dumb Chevy commercial.
For me, everything about the Summit 850 says sit back and enjoy the ride, it’s gonna be easy. Just put your eyes where you want to go and lean your head. It takes very little effort to hit my marks and hold my lines on the Summit. I tell people all the time, you’re either a rigid chassis type of rider or a flex chassis type of rider. So I don’t expect everyone to love this sled. Just like I don’t expect everyone to love the rigid feel….
4. Ski-Doo Summit SP 600R
Yes, it’s almost 2020 and I still love a good mountain 600. The 600s remind me of the times before 3-inch tracks, bolt-on turbos and 150-horsepower 800s when you got to the top if you could read snow, carry momentum and turn with the throttle to the bar. The 2019 Summit 600R E-TEC probably has more power and a better chassis than most 800s prior to 2010, but it’s still a sled that brings out the “riding” in going for a ride. This could easily be my top choice.
