Product Install: SLP Lightweight Silencer

Published in the October 2018 Issue February 2019 Feature Steve Janes

Remove the stock silencer. (Make certain the pipe silencer seal doesn’t drop into the engine compartment or the rubber isolators did not stick to the stock can.) Sometimes do-it-yourselfers don’t pay attention to the silencer seal and either lose it in the engine compartment or forget to take it off the stock pipe. You need this seal for your new silencer. If your snowmobile has more than 1,000 miles on it, you may want to consider replacing the seal. Note the photo of a worn seal and a new one.

The SLP kit will have four additional springs, the belly pan seal, a couple of spring tabs (a large one for the pipe and a small one for the silencer) and some heat tape.

Attach the large spring tab that is included in the kit by using the bolt that holds the factory spring tab. This will allow you to triangulate the springs securing the pipe and keep it in a neutral position.
