Polaris announced today that it will cease production of the iconic Timbersled snowbike conversion kits effective immediately.
In a call with SnoWest, Jessica Rogers (media contact with Polaris, Inc.) told us that Polaris would stop selling snowbike conversion kits at the end of 2025, and that there would be no model year 2026 linup.
"We are committed to supporting our Timbersled dealers and customers," says Rogers. "We will continue to work with our dealers to continue to sell Timbersled kits this year. Timbersled kits purchased this year will receive one-year warranty. We will continue to carry service and warranty parts and will continue to operate a customer and dealer service line for product support."
SnoWest was the first media outlet to jump on the snowbike trend back in 2007, creating a partnership wtih Timbersled creator Allen Mangum––who later sold the Timbersled company to Polaris in 2015. SnoWest created SnowBikeWorld, a media outlet dedicated to snowbike conversion kits, and built several custom snowbikes with Brock Buttars––a current Timbersled ambassador.
Rogers continues: "This was a difficult decision. Timbersled is a great brand, and we are proud of the product advancements we have brought to the snow bike market. Since acquiring Timbersled in 2015, Polaris has invested millions of dollars in product engineering, design, technology and efforts to bring the sport of snow biking to the next level of popularity. However, the market has struggled over the last several years, and we no longer see a long-term path for growth within this niche snow bike kit market."
Polaris will continue to invest resources into its core snow business of dedicated snowmobile products.
"We have been in the snowmobile business for more than 70 years," says Rogers. "While the last several years have been tough for the industry, we believe in the future of snowmobiling and are excited about the strong product innovation we have in the pipeline."
