The Case For The 2019 M 8000 Mountain Cat Alpha One

Take everything we just said about the Mountain Cat and add this: Being really good at everything means you’re not spectacular at one given thing. The Alpha One is aimed at being spectacular at one thing––deep snow mountain riding. We don’t mean just going through deep snow. We mean annihilating deep snow.

Arctic Cat set out to change the rules of how a track interfaces with loose snow crystals to propel a 450-pound machine and its rider more efficiently and effectively than what current designs were capable of. That project is the Alpha One.

The catch? You have to give a little to get a little. The Alpha One outperforms the Mountain Cat in deep snow (any terrain and any maneuver in deep snow), but it’s not the all-purpose, all-conditions mountain sled that the Mountain Cat is.

If you have season-long access to blower snow with weekly refills and can hit it with minimal trail usage, then there’s no excuse for not owning an Alpha One.
