Fox Releases the iQS

Exclusive first look, test ride

Published in the September 2018 Issue February 2019 Feature Steve Janes

Since Fox first started producing snowmobile shocks in 1987, we have seen a steady improvement in technology and innovation that has provided better control and handling on even the roughest terrain. Most recently, we have seen snowmobile shocks with the capability of being quickly adjusted by the turn of a clicker so you can customize the performance characteristics of your suspension to your riding style under specific conditions.

First there was the ability to pre-load your springs. Then cam air pressure adjustments. And then came the ability to dial in your damping with just a turn of the knob. Now, not only are there combinations of all those adjustments available, but Fox has made it even easier for 2019 with its Intelligent Quick Switch.

The all-new iQS features select damping profiles with a handlebar-mounted switch that enhances safety, efficiency, control, convenience and performance. There is no need to count clicks (remove your gloves and scrape snow and ice off the clickers). You select the profiles on-the-fly, permitting adjustments to match the terrain.

The editors of SnoWest Magazine got a chance to play with the iQS last spring in Island Park, ID, with Fox reps Lars Matheney and Rick Stroble. They brought out systems mounted on both a Ski-Doo Summit 850 and a Polaris Pro-RMK 800. We were impressed with how simple this very complicated process is for snowmobilers.
