Situation 4
You are climbing up a tight, steep ravine and realize you are not going to make it … but if you turn down, you’ll end up darting into the creek bottom.
• When you are climbing up a tight, steep slope and then need to turn it back down but pull it back on its side to control your descent, the Cat does very well.
• With Polaris, when you first turn down, the bottom ski dives into the snow and wants to roll you over the top of your sled. If you turn that into a tool and pivot around on it, you can really control your descent (but it tends to go against your mindset to allow the counter-steer to take full effect).
• Ski-Doo has a challenge with this maneuver because as you cross over to regain your sidehill you’re sliding on plastic for a bit until you can set your track into the slope.
