Modern UTV engines are designed to push the limits of horsepower and performance. Adding a turbocharger that spins up to 200,000 rpm creates tremendous friction and heat. These harsh operating conditions and extreme temperatures can lead to reduced performance and engine life.
AMSOIL recently conducted a proof-of-performance test on a turbocharged 2023 Polaris® RZR Pro XP® UTV. AMSOIL 0W-50 100% Synthetic ATV/UTV Motor Oil was installed and run for the entire manufacturer-recommended oil drain interval of 50 hours. The engine was run through numerous real-world field trials and placed on a dyno for extensive engine testing that increased the performance intensity by as much as 15%. Temperature sensors were placed on the oil sump, coolant, transmission and CVT belt. Boost pressure was also closely monitored. After completing 50 hours of rigorous testing, the engine was torn down and inspected.

Results revealed that the oil did not oxidize from increased heat and exhibited no metal wear particles. No deposits were found on the pistons or valves, indicating that optimal engine performance was maintained. The cylinders, camshafts and bearings remained in like-new condition and showed no wear, which helps extend engine life.
