So I'm starting the classic oil debate thread again, this time use in the 850etec naturally aspirated sleds. Does anyone have solid information for people in Canada and BRP now honoring warranty on the motor if a brand other than XPS is being used? I know in the United States, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act states it clearly that they cannot deny warranty work if you didn't use BRP oil in a BRP product for example. But this act only applies to the US, not Canada.

To me, I don't see how they can if it meets the specifications of XPS Synthetic 2T.
On the oil can it says; "Damages caused by oil which is not suitable for this engine may not be covered by the BRP limited warranty. See the operator’s guide."
So, per the owners manual for 850etec sleds it says: "IF THE RECOMMENDED XPS ENGINE OIL IS NOT ABALABLE - Use a 2 stroke lubricant designed for snowmobiles meeting or exceeding the following lubricant industry specifications: -JASO FD - SAE Grade 4.

IPONE Snow 2T meets the JASO FD specification the same as XPS.
XPS 2T is a 40% synthetic and 60% conventional oil mixture.
IPONE 2T is 35% synthetic and 65% conventional mixture.

I use IPONE 2T in my 23 Khaos 850na as the dealership I bought it from confirmed that Polaris will honor warranty with that oil, along with Klotz and Amsoil. So all good.
As for the Doo dealership I buy from, they will not give me a answer and just say "use XPS."

So again, anyone know if there's a act or something to prove that it's ok to use other oils in BRP without denying warranty? Cheers

yakima, wa.
BRP states right on the label u provided, 'use jaso fd' or oil that meets exceeds that level.

FC and FD only increase detergents over FB.

As far as engine oil lubrication and protection, FB should suffice, but the exhaust will get dirty quick.
