Polaris making our 154hp 800HO 145hp?!?

In the newest issue of SnoWest, as I'm sure you guys have seen, Polaris has been stating the 2010 800HO's at 145HP using 2 injectors.

If Polaris is going to want to replace my 4 injectors with 2 injectors and cost me 9HP, I say NO!!!

Is this true, or are the HP estimates just conservative??

From what I've seen, the previous numbers were exaggerated.....but who knows. So the 4 injector setup is gone on the '10 800's for sure?

I dont have one, but if it were me, I would rather have a reliable honest 145 hp than an unreliable, unachievable 154hp

not to flame, just my $.02

I know what you're saying, but I could have gotten a 700 with 140hp, spent at least $1,000 less on the sled, and been riding earlier. The passive attitude at Polaris is really starting to light me up...

On the bold, DYNOTECH JIM did have at least (2) 155 h.p. 2009 800's. One was box stock RMK (dynoed fall 2008), the other dynoed Spring 2009 with only a PC III.

Now if POLARIS could just deliver on the reliability I for one don't mind spending another $365.00 for a controller to get the extra H.P.

Should be an interesting season.

On the bold, I have a 2007 D-7, I'd like to tell you it makes 140 h.p., even with the PC III on it, and 5-10% LEAN on top, I still doubt it.

The 2010 700 is also a CFI-2 nowadays. They're bragging about "improved run quality, cleaner emissions, and outstanding fuel economy" No mention of a HP spec. I'll speculate it's down a little for 2010 also. The brochure is downloadable from the Poo website with this info spelled out.

Interestingly, the 800 brochure on the Poo website specs out CFI-4, despite what was read on Snow West recently about it being CFI-2.

Begs the question...who's right, Poo's website or Snow West? Yet again it seems we have another year with conflicting info given out to the general public from Polaris. Last year it was all the P-2 secondary speculation and misinformation...Polaris didn't correct their website last year until about 6 months after they announced to magazines that the P-2 would not happen on high HP sleds. And now this year nobody knows for certain what kind of engines they're actually getting.

I've said it before I really am not buying HP I'm buying performance and reliability, Polaris has always been below in HP but always performs with the best of em, some exceptions . If your 700 has 140 h's and my d8 has 144 why then can't you climb as high and why can I beat you in a drag race.
I read Dyno Tech all the time and only use the data to purchase things that have the most bang for the buck, HP is just a number, results are what counts, In stead of being so down on Poo think of the fact that you are out performing 155hp doos with only 144hp that is fun IMO.

2 vs 4.

to me it only matters cause i want to turbo. we all know with the 4 injector setup and propper controller setting these sleds work well and are reliable. with only 2 injectors what else will be needed to turbo. dont the cats need to switch injectors and fuel pump?

could be something to it as boondocker called me and said there is a slight delay on shipping my turbo as some updates are being made

The flatlands
2010 700 and 800 both have 4 injectors

That's seems to be the most accurate story. Several Snowest members (Mountainhorse?) have access to the parts books. Maybe someone can post a page or two showing the fuel tubing or injector wiring.

Hurry up and wait :D I guess we will see what happens. If the 2010's come with 2 injector then will the update also include a 2 injector setup? I don't want anything to do with that as I have some very positive info on some aftermarket fuel control systems that a doing wonders with the 4 injector system. Not to mention another full season of everyone trying to test and tune the 2 injector might get frustrating. Gees, I would forgo the update altogether if I could track down some closer tolerance pistons. Polaris specs are like a hotdog down a hallway.

I don't see the CFi-2 in the SnoWest mag

I had a look in the latest snowest mag... I didn't see any mention of HP or CFi2/4 engines.

http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/c8249078#/c8249078/51

Maybe it is in the "print version".... if so...please take a photo of this and post it up.

My bad; it was late (that's my excuse).

The article was in SNOWGOER. Pg # 46 says the 2010 800's "are good for" 145hp... (We all know this isn't breaking news...)

While I don't have any concrete information on the updates for these sleds, the dealer has told me that I will get a kit that will remove the lower 2 injectors and will replace the upper two with larger injectors.

However, the Polaris website says the 2010 800's will have a CFI-4 system. When I check the parts diagram on the Website, we still have three styles of injectors: Yellow, Red, & Blue. (check out http://parts.polarisind.com/assemblies.asp) & its under the 2010 800 fuel system, rail, lines & throttle body. (which the schematic is from 2008)

You'll have to log-in for viewing BTW

The 2010 800 is CFI-4 . Its the exact same injector system as 08 and 09 .

Yes, but all 3 years are subject to a recall and "upgrade". My guess is that they will all be getting the 2 injector setup since those with 2 injecotrs ran fine. The problem with the 800's has been going lean on the transition point from running on 2 to 4. They have not been able to get rid of it with different flashes of the computer, so next logical step is to go back to what works. The 2 injector system. It will be interesting to see how this all turns out. I am betting that it will be the 2 injector setup.

Until you guys realize that Polaris is just a second rate company all around, you will continue to waste your time whining about their ways.

IMHA

YOU GO IT RIGHT! Polaris only gave us 145 last year, why are you guys surprized? I'll bet it burns down just the same to....
