How was the reliability of the 2001-2002 RMK 800's?

The title of this thread basically says it all- Ive heard theyre pretty nice machines as far as a guy's first mountain sled goes, but just wondering if they have a good reputation for being on the right side of the tow rope or not-

Stick with the 2002 if you go his route. The EDGE chassis was much better than the GenII, and you get VES (ie a significant amount of extra power). You could do some history checking and see that the biggest issue was the crank bearing giving way after a few thousand miles. Easy enough to replace, and once you have you are pretty much golden. If that sounds a bit scary, go with the 02 700. Spotless motor with almost as much go. But overall, in my riding group, these were the sleds towing, not getting towed.
