What are you Dragon 800 owners seeing for your max track speeds with the 155 and/or 163, and in what conditions? Trying to figure out how much track speed differences there are between the 155 and 163...

well I have the 163... when I first got it it would pull 40-44 mph on the speedo memory on a steep and deep climb..since gearing down..19/42, single pipe, vents, and carls clutch kit , and different style weights..46-52 mph...on long deep climbs..pulls 8200 rpm in pow and will bump 8250 on hard pack...

Track speeds

Trail around 80 mph, never really wound it out.

Climbing around 8-9000 ft. = 42-45 mph.

Sled has:
SLP Single
Air Horn
Carls Clutch kit

D8 speeds

Before the reflash could get up to 77mph, after the reflash it hit 86.I like the reflash. This is at about 9k ft with about 25 temp on groomed trail. Only mods are a slp can. I dont know what climbing track speeds are as im too busy trying to keep from wettin myself to look at the speedo

at 7 - 8k altitude my totall stock 163 D8 would pull 38 - 42 mph track speed in light pow. Top speed at 8000ft = 70 - 72 mph (pulling 7800 - 7900rpm)

In heavy late spring snow with an SLP single with Carls clutch set-up and 19/41 gearing I still only get 38 - 42 mph (wet heavy snow) Top speed on hard pack flats at 8000ft = 72 mph (pulling 8200 - 8300rpm)

Stock D8 163 with six different gearing and helix combinations: Worst was 77mph indicated top speed, steep pull in deep, heavy powder was 37 mph indicated track speed. Best was 83 mph indicated top speed, steep pull in deep, heavy powder was 44 mph indicated track speed. Tests were run in same locations on the same day. Conditions were 36 degrees F at 3000 to 3300 feet elevation.

Ran my best set up for 70 plus miles in 10-20 inches of fresh on 4 feet of base. Elevations from 3000 to 5400 feet during the loop. Sled was awesome all day. Was the only sled in the group to pull a particular climb in the first run. Had Cats, Doos, and other Pols in the group, all with capable riders. There were some that ran with me on the powder flats, but, not going by me. PM me for info Ice Cap.

85-90 Mph D8 163.
But that is with BD Turbo of course....
:D

intersting post....what boost are you running??/ To get 85-90 mph you would need about 375 hp:eek:...did not think the 2 stroke turbo would go that high....am I wrong??? I run a nytro with mcx turbo and @ 18 lbs boost I can only get 125 ks per hr(77mph) or so:(..Tyler Backus with his full mod apex @ 450 hp can get that kind of track sped(90-100mph) so how are you getting this with yours???:face-icon-small-winasking because if this is so I will switch to the boosted polaris.....02:D

Nope I road a turbo M8 with about 240 hp and it pulled 90mph up the hill with 11 lbs boost so I would guess the Dragon would be the same. Not going to knock the Yamy, if you like a 4 stroke thats great.

Still only getting 38-40 mph with 19-42 gears and Carls helix and wieghts...It will pull up to 45 up hill when the snows set up...but the soft snow realy saps the power....

Would REALLY like to see 50mph for what this sled and the add ons cost...I guess a turbo will make the differance when I get it on but geezzzz...The doo boys with all there clutching issues are 45-50mph...:(

Running 12-14#Boost at sea level up to 3000Feet.
Belive what you want.
Now its even stronger.!
Had a little leak at the Y-pipe the backpressure
forced the pipe a little bit of.
After Double combination of springs 8 new ones instead
of 4 Weak ones it runs like hell.
Went on a test run Peaked 19# of boost!!!
After 200 feet then the DETO sensor came in.....
But jesus if you could get it to run at that boost......:D
Turned the boost down again it got less lag of course.
Ill think ill settle what i have right now.Its flawless.
and nothing broken yet.400miles and counting.
Talked to BD and they had the ADA update for 189$
I will have it on the -09....
Later Ed

My sled has a slp can 19/42 gears 64gram in primary and stock helix and it pulls 47-50 in the powder and 60 up the hill on hard snow. I do have the reflash and I think it helped my sled alot. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UbDC93QFLz0
