Yz450F Big Bore or Turbo

I don't understand the frustration with a cvt set up other than the wrong clutching or clutches for the application ?

What I also don't understand is why do the manufactures put updated obsolete belt slapping clutches on big liter two stroke sleds but than put the latest technology on the smaller two and four stroke ones , four wheelers and side by sides that are capable and reliable of running 200 horse ?

The Hawks have to be one of the most misunderstood machine made in the industry and the general public throws them under the bus which is no big deal but to use them for personal profit is a different story ,those that do can take a leap off a bridge because it's pretty obvious to me that they couldn't ride one to save their own a$$ .

What is also funny is that I'm still riding one because no one makes a machine that has the power they produce and the way it's going it might be quite some time but if I lived state side where so many are so limited to where they ride the Hawk would probably see only a few outings a year .

Well didn't I just screw things up ? :face-icon-small-hap

No actually you babbled for a bit.
Thats all.
No actual point made.

The gist of what you said.....
Hawks are the best, anyone who disagrees is clueless.

Save you some typing if you just copy and paste that as your signature.

Sorry you read into it that way , maybe your crank wouldn't be able to hold up to the powerbloc clutches the 550 polaris are running now , they might have shaved to much weight off of that crank to handle a clutch that would allow it to rev faster . Do a little research into the clutches and you might see something otherwise you missed the gist .

By the way could be any more rude ?

where did the power go

6 speed transmissions for hi perf harley engines are $1400. add air shift and forget your foot .

cvt's work extremely well. BUT the gyroscopic effect of two 12 lb clutches spinning at 8000 rpm is a physical force no gorilla can overcome. 400 lb sno x sleds with transmissions and no spinning aluminum gyroscopes feels like you shed 200 lbs off off the sled.

Back in the day when ROKON built cvt motox bikes with pull starters, it was for sure the first bike to the first corner.................oh but you couldn't get it to go around that corner, and every time you hit the gas and spooled up those clutch's, you couldn't talk to that bike in any language. Still a few sitting in garages around this town if you still want to test the theory.

A 125hp hawk without the clutches might be a heck of a machine. But now with sno bikes costing 15-20K why would you buy one ? AGILITY, BALANCE, NIMBLE OR NIMBLER, PETITE FEELING

we got a long ways to go to make bikes to ride on the snow, and I'm betting not to many sleds parts will be along for the ride.

And what about using banshee /RZ350 engine with stroker kits ? Probably not more expensive than custom stuff and would make 80hp easy with TONS of rev.

I wouldn't waste my time on a big bore been there, done that and its just not enough of an improvement for what it costs in the end. Never ridden a turbo but I have ridden with them and that doesn't interest me either. You need to be realistic about your own expectations from one of these things. They aren't a sled so if it were me I would just make sure and get what you've got working as well as it can by riding with other bikes and comparing then just call it good. Save your money for gas. Amen man, they are just differnt, don't try to build them into a sled. save the $5k for a turbo or full mod motor build and pay for your whole seasons worth of travel, gas and lodging.
