Your tax dollars under Obama.

Those that benefit the most should pay more than those that don't, as they are getting more benefits from the government than others.- so one could argue that those on welfare and other government help, ie Farm Bill, should be paying more.....

I am starting to think that there is an abundance of people on snowest that make more than 250k a year.... and happen to view those in the middle class as lazy or inept.-I've thought this, but hey we all drive 10k plus sleds every couple of years so it's gotta be so.

If you make it legally, it's yours-well what if I make it illegally can't I still keep it? Maybe off shores or something?

aaron is affluent lets tax the hell out aaron. nevermind the fact that joe isnt smart , motivated, creative(and by way of those qualities... is where he is financially) etc... screw all that... lets level the mystical playing field.- what if aaron got that way by fudging the numbers, playing in gray areas and screwing over the joes of the world? Then what? Or what if aaron coasted in on his grandpas hard work ethic?

thats why i said capitalism has its weaknesses as well. screwing people over is a problem but aaron riding the coattails of his grandparents?? so what... that doesnt merit his money being taken from him or redistributed. i will say it again capitalism in the hands of HONEST MEN works fantastic...there in lies the problem... not too many truly honest big business owners.

I would have to research Denmark but is is really an Apples to Oranges comparison. What works in one place does not mean it would work in another.

I bet Denmark has socialized healthcare.

Iraq is a perfect example of this.

Western and Eastern societies are both different and have different needs. Europe is really much different than the U.S.

Denmark was very anti business then they went full circle with lower taxes and things are much better now. Check it out it works. I have a business and Know i would be more willing to buy new stuff if I did not have to give so much to the GOV every year.

I think we should instate a blank space tax!:p

Denmark has a very high income tax rate and a moderate corporate tax rate. The top income tax rate is 59 percent, and the top corporate tax rate was cut to 25 percent from 28 percent in 2007. Other taxes include a value-added tax (VAT) and an excise tax. In the most recent year, overall tax revenue as a percentage of GDP was 50.4 percen

That doesn't seem very full circle like you seem to be saying it does!

Ruffy, I kinda like this pot stirring thing...hope I don't get lumped with you commie, utopian socialist pigs though....

Seriously anyone wanting to see a Socialist State in the US come spend some time in MN.

Anyone actually look at the link? It is a global comparison of developed countries and there tax structure. Pretty good info, just tons of it.

Yea, because we as a country got where we are by following the other countries around the world.

I fall into that catagory because I'm small business owner and my tax returns show the numbers... does that mean I take home 250K in income at the end of the year...... no way no how!:(

Lots and lots of people will get hurt by tax increases because the numbers say they are rich when reality doesn't quite play out that way.

Lots and lots of people will get hurt by tax increases because the numbers say they are rich when reality doesn't quite play out that way.-very true.

I have a friend I ride bikes with in the summer and I'd say he has the best view on this. His view is that as long as you are having fun you have to be rich and if your not having fun you must be poor. And he is by no means wealthy. His line to sum up a good day of riding is this,

"I wonder what all the poop people are doing today"

Are you trying to find any means to call me a socialist?

ummm well if the shoe fits.:p:) no that is not my sole point but it is applicable... but contrary to a socialist a utopian is somewhat of a good thing. O'Ruffy i have some personal questions... how much do you make a year, are you married/ kids, and what do you do as a vocation? if you dont want to answer thats cool... curious though so as to see inside your world so to speak... theres more to O'Ruffy than just the usual antithesis. maybe a pm is better so as not to hijack the thread or go off topic... your call?:)

fill us in ruffy.

Like wise could you as well MT.

Me I am 24, married with a 3.5 year old and 2 month old. Bought a house last July, and earn my money as an X-ray tech. There's my insight.

Denmark has two significant weaknesses that are typical of large European welfare states. The top personal income tax rate is very high, and tax revenue collected is correspondingly high. Although there are few state-owned industries, government spending equals over 50 percent of GDP. As a result, scores in these two freedoms are over 40 percentage points below average.

Why do you want the US to be more of a Welfare state then it already is??

I will have to think about this...... I have put myself pretty much out here, but not sure how far I want to go. I kind of like being an Enigma. :p Or a socialist. I am single though. You know any women near Seattle that sled? ;)

I would be all for pure capitalism if there were mechanisms or a means of adding costs that are not included in the current capitalist scheme. Right now it is based on margin and that is how choices are made. I view capitalism as a means of trying to make the best choices financially. But there are ramifications for our choices that capitalism does not take into account. It also rewards those that view money very important more than those that view family. I guess I am trying to something along the lines of you can't buy happiness sort of thing.
