We are staying in Walden 2/11-2/15. We are pulling a 41' gooseneck from MN. Reading some of the posts, parking at some of the unload spots is tight with a 4 place, much less our 8 place. Where are the biggest lots? Can you ride up from a lower lot at Buff pass? Thanks for the help. If you see us in Walden I'll buy you a beer for the help. There is beer in walden, right?

On a clear, starry night in Walden you can sometimes hear the banjos playing up and down the valleys.

"He's got purty lips on im, don't he Pa?":heart:

Look, I'll be the first to admit that Walden is about as far from happening as a person can get, but I'm curious if you have a personal vendetta against the town or something? I admit that I lurk on the site enough to know that you always seem to chime in when Walden comes up in conversation, and usually a backwoods, banjo comment generally follows. Most likely it's all in good fun, but for those who haven't ever been there, I'm sure they're thinking, "WTF did I get myself into?!" Not meaning to get all serious and not take a joke, but I just thought I would pose the question.

well Darin....tell us how you really feel? ;)

I think is just a joke in harmless fun from one small town guy about another small town.

back to the question...

Now parking a large rig is done often up by Rabbit Ears. I've seen diesel pushers on the left lots as you come in some pullling trailers. I don't ride that area as much but I am sure a few others could chime in.

The CO forum ride is that weekend. You could check the details in the thread at the top for meeting up with a good group of people. It is happping in that area.

Golly, I believe that Diz has hit the nail on the head. BTW, in Kremmling we play the harmonica and the spoons!

I have pulled an enclosed 40' gooseneck up there a few times. Muddy Creek parking lot at Rabbit Ears is the best place to park it up there. You need to get there early - early especially if there is fresh snow as that lot can get crazy. If there is enough room to part in the middle, I have parked the trailer and unhooked it for a week or so. Just make sure that you are parking in the same direction and other rigs can get through. I know some people camp up there (Bushy), and I do not think that there is a problem with leaving the trailer up there. There is enough room down at Buff Pass, but the road in can get pretty sketchy, I was up there last year in March, and there were 9' drifts, and 10" ruts in the road. Makes you a little uneasy knowing that you could hang up an axle on the trailer.

Thanks guys.

I cant wait to get there. We will be out on Weds. of next week.

BTW, We are all coming from small towns in Minnesota along the river. The joke never gets old. We did find out that when the movie Brokeback Mt. came out, some folks didn't want to joke about it. We were in a WY bar harassing eachother in our group about Brokeback. It almost didn't end well. After some appoliging, we were allowed back in the next night.

Grizz is ok unless it's not plowed, MC is ok unless it's not plowed. Along the road right at the divide sign is plowed first. Grizz can be an adventure ifyou get back in there during a blow but should be good for now. Haven't been, this year but the D8 gets in there regular, but not quick and it can drift shut quick. If MC is plowed it's probably best and not much longer time than grizz and a whole lot closer to a hwy.

Ignore those scoroulous comments about Walden:face-icon-small-dis

You admit that you're from Kremtucky?~LOL! Just kidding. Got a couple good friends that live there. Ken pours good whisky at the Mtn too.

BTW, if Griz is plowed you'll have no problem. We parked there last Tuesday and you could have a dozen semis in there. Riding up from there is fine. Take the power lines up, it's fun.

Make sure you park well if you go to muddy creek!!

I don't want to have to hear a bunch more crap from PJ about MN guys not knowing how to park.

I'm not gonna b*tch anymore about it. From now on I'll just hook up to em and yank em out!:devil: Then I'll post a pic of the plates and tow rig.

I knew I'd get your attention with that one!!!:D

Although the last episode that's exactly what I would have done. No excuse for that one.

Turbo Apex.

Met him in the Bar in West Yellowstone before he headed down there. I had just gotten up there to ride with some of the boys from back in MN. He knows one of them pretty well.

By the way, don't mean to offend at all it's just cupcake was all I was told for a name. He's a Big boy!
