I am sooooooooooo glad that all yuz guz are from other states. Probably shoot your own foot waaaaaaaaay before your ever meet a lion or wolf.

More power to you. I am glad we have a choice!:beer;

Had several run ins with Mountain Lions in the last 3 years and once was on a snowmobile where they got within 20-30yds of me not noticing them right away. Really don't want to be waist deep in snow with my back turned to them. That crap they're more scared of you etc. is utter BS. A cow will look at you an acknowledge you're there. A cat may know your there and not even look at you because they know your not an immediate threat. But I don't want to the unarmed one that meets the cat that thinks you could be prey.

No sir, Check your response. You started it! F**king yourself looks like it may become a habit for you. Seek counseling from Pinnedunderdoo!

uh ohh spaghettios

Calm down. This is america, the right of choice, you choose not to carry a gun, snoboner chooses not to **** himself. Sounds pretty equal if you ask me :D

Dont get all alrevedup now ;) this is a family forum

I have a freind who was packin' in the Black Hills. He was checked for his sled tag, found to be carrying a gun and went to jail. This has been 5-7 years ago and these are the details best as I can recall. Freak incident. Lead, SD This wouldn't keep me from carring it, maybe a little more discreatly though.

there shouldn't be issue with carrying if the guna dn mag are seperate, just like carrying in the car in a case...if you don't have a permit. If you have teh permit carry where ever you want or can.

I never go into the backcountry without my Ruger KGPF-331, I just hate trackpoachers.

Finally a good reason to carry heat. HAHAHAHAHA

FWI- I hear Snoboner is a trackpoacher.:D Wait, I might have slipped into a track or two. It was a moment of weakness

I don't claim to be an expert, but there are a couple things I'd like to comment on since places like this are breeding grounds for misconceptions about guns:

1)Defensive handguns are like avanlanche beacons. You hope and pray that you will never have to use it, but we carry them because should we ever need them, our life or the life of someone we care about is on the line. Not having it with that day or fumbling unskillfully with it will cost someone their life. Many of you refuse to ride with people who don't carry beacons, don't be so quick to judge those who want to carry guns.

2) Defensive handguns are only for last line of defence in a life threatening confontation. Pulling it out for any other reason will get you in big trouble (simply brandishing can get you in big trouble). Guns are NOT for settling arguements or dealing with people who rub you the wrong way and having one doesn't mean one is or should be out looking for trouble.

3) A handgun unloaded and in your pack will do you no good in a self defense situation. If your not willing to keep it loaded and within reach, leave it at home because if sh*t hits the fan its going to happen fast...you won't have time to fish it out and load it in time to stop the threat be it two legged or four. If you are not comfortable carrying a loaded gun (and there are safe ways to do it) think twice about bringing it anywhere other than the range.

4) The only people who should be carrying handguns are those who are trained, comfortable, and proficient in their use. If carrying appeals to you get some formal training and practice often.

5) Carry enough power to do the job. a 22mag isn't going to stop anything worth worring about in the winter. Most popular auto calibers won't stop a mt lion.

I know some of you are joking, but I just want to throw this out there for the people who don't know much about conceal and carry. Like land access, one idiot can ruin it for everybody when it comes to guns.

If you don't want to carry, that's fine, DON'T. But, if you do- know the rules, follow the rules, get some training, practice, and do it right. Defensive handguns are something you either do all the way or not at all.

I don't leave home without it unless I'm going to church and i haven't been to church in 30 years :face-icon-small-ton besides i would rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
