You ever remember your dad letting you sipp his beer?

For starters this is for mostly my generation question I would think and I am 40.. Any of you guys remember being a kid in a restaurant and your dad let you sipp his beer or taste his wine?

With that said, A good friend let his 19 year old son have 5 sipps off his beer over a 3 hour time period at a a local dirt track race and a fellow patron turned him in. Cop came over and breath tested his kid with a 0.00 result but still cited him for procuring!

WTF has our society come to?

I'm 38 and I can remember that. totally harmless. On another note:
My 24 year old step daughter was at a barbeque the other night and the hostess let her baby(17 months old) sip beer till she was wobbly and obviously drunk. The poor excuse for a mother indicated that the beer would make the baby sleep so she could join in with the partying. In my opinion that is not cool.

I agree. My brother once brought his newborn girl into a bar. Just to show her off. It didn't sit well with anyone.

My Mom would order a beer intending to let me drink it on a special occassion. Dad always let me have a beer at hunting camp and maybe a sip of wiskey . letting a 17 mo old get wobbly is nuts!! just imagine having to take a child that age to the emergency room intoxicated or something like that! I never got buzzed until I could at least steal the beer on my own:D

lame....there is no way that charge will stick if the kid blew 0's. Tell him to fight it.

Yup, poor little baby.
Dad would let me have a beer when we were fishing, but like you said, I was old enough to steal it. Watering down the Rye after I poached half of it wasn't my smartest move as an alcohol stealer.

been there done that .............and the chick who drugged the baby needs ....a sh1t kickin

I used to occasionally have a glass of wine with dinner when I was like 12 or so. No big deal, plus my parents used to sip Sambuca, and they would allow me to have a shot glass and just sip on it throughout the evening. Plus, an occasional beer while out boating or fishing. Totally harmless... THEN when I started to get out and party at 15 or 16, or whatever I was NEVER the kid passed out in his own puke in the corner. My daughter will be the same way, my wife enjoys her coolers every now and then, and my daughter will be allowed to have an occasional sip when she gets older. then, because of that, hopefully she'll never be the girl who passes out and gets taken advantage of, either. Moderation is the answer...
The mother who got her toddler drunk needs to be reported to child services

I believe my step daughter is taking action in relationship to CPS. I was going to step in if she didn't. There is no excuse for drugging a baby.

good to hear...even though CPS can only do so much....if it happens again the police need to be called. She needs to be charged.

I remember my first taste of beer - original Coors - ICK! Still do not care for it, but I like beer.

And my fondest memory (actually I have quite few!):

When I was in high school my mom got my cousin and I drunk (tequila shots) with the intention we would hate it and never do it again. All three of us were terribly hungover the next day too.:D Well, her little plan didn't make us not drink, but we always drank responsibly with my mom.

BTW - I really love a Patron Reposado shot!! Had one last night at the UFC party. :beer;

Hope your buddy doesn't get stuck with the charge

I remember those days. Thank the Libbys for ruining it. If you take something away and make it forbidden, what is the first thing a teen is gonna take aim for?

I know someone who thought it was cute to let his young kid sip some beer now and then at ~2 years old.

now he's the best little beer theif you ever come across, he got nearly a full can (so the story goes) and got him self chitfaced. Now everyones very careful with booze around him..

think he'll have problems later in life with booze?

im 24 years old and my parents would let me have sips of beer when i was younger 13-16, My grandpa would let me have sips of his whiskey at about age 11. On camping trips they would allow me to have a few beers under age.. Once i turned 18 my parents started noticing their hard A turning into water, I still to this day couldnt tell ya how that happend ;)

Yup  I drank a lot more underage than I ever do now. Funny how that works. I keep an 18 pack in the fridge and a few bottles of scotch around.

my parents have let me have a beer on occasion on days whered it would be busy with hay or straw or something like that. they didnt care as long as i was with them....in south dakota i beleive its legal to drink underage if your parents are next to you
