yet another 07 800r question

first year with a skidoo sled after 25yrs of cats so bare with me if some questions seem basic. what i have is an 07 800r 151 with about 1300 miles. sled starts, runs, changes from forward to reverse great. that is until today. 10" of fresh powder here, took sled out riding about 10 miles ran great. filled with fuel and about 15 minutes of riding the engine started cutting out. acts like a fuel problem. it acted like it was going to die, flipped choke up for a sec and it came out of it for a few secs then bogged again. was right by yard so got it to shop and parked it. comments? ideas? where to start looking? i don't know jack about the revs. do they have a problem with getting water droplets in carbs? can you run isopropyl in them? thanks

If you flipped the choke and it straightened out, it must be fuel related. Possibly had some water in the fuel you added? It's a pain to pull the tank to drain and not easy to check the carbs for water either. Best bet would be to pull the carbs to drain them and clean them. Maybe there's some junk the bowls that you definitely want to clean out.
Good Luck.

Sounds like you put some bad gas in the tank. How old was that gas? What octane was it? I had a buddy put some year old gas in his wheeler once, did the same thing. Drain the gas and clean the carbs, see what happens. Anything past that, check the fuel lines for obstructions.

i filled at the station with 91 octane gas. first instinct was water in fuel. does a person dare run isopropyl or iso-heet in these engines? used to run half a bottle per tank through my cats to help prevent water problems. just not sure how touchy these 800r's are. do these sleds have any known problems with getting snow dust in airbox? like i said before, my learning curve is starting at zero. thanks

how long did old gas sit in there?harbor freight sells pumps for about $15.0 to pump tank, better then pulling tank.pilot jets .tip it over.

Not sure about iso-heet. As far as getting snow in the airbox, I haven't had any problems. I even have the back of my airbox cut out with prefilter covering it and it runs fine. Do you have any vents on your panels that would allow snow inside the sled and maybe into the airbox? Make sure your airbox doesn't have any open holes in it. If it does, get some prefilter and cover the holes using the 3M adhesive spray. Maybe the gas station you filled at had crap gas. Drain whats in there and put new in from wherever you got your gas that didn't give you problems and see what happens.

hopefully get to it later today. will drain tank and bowls etc. and go from there. as far as snow getting into engine compartment, the sled has lightweight sidepanels that seem to let some snow in. noticed it when carving to the left getting snow on belt. going to try and address that problem also...hate learning curves. will post if i find a problem. thanks again

apparently wasnt a water problem. put the sled in heated shop for a few hours. pulled tether and made sure no water or anything. checked plugs. put back together, pulled rope and it runs great. not sure what the problem was but it apparently fixed itself while thawing out.
