I own a small buisiness in Iowa. We are full service building contractors.
A few years ago i signed up to advertise in the local phone book yellow pages.
All was great until it came time to renew, another company using a similar name ( it has yellow page in the title) called and asked if i wanted to renew and i agreed, All went well until time to renew again, I said no i do not want to advertise with you it doese me no good. They fought hard to keep me on the line, but i insisted NO. Two months later they call back asking why they have not been paid, and i am close to collections. I said that i cancelled. They said no you agreed to advertise and played a recording of me saying yes. I dont know if they tricked me or changed the recording but now im pissed.. They said if you pay right now over the phone we can cancell. So i did. A few hundred bucks.
Yesterday they call back and said it was the last day to cancell or i would be charged another year.. He kept saying he was going to send me an invoice. I said no i cancelled. You dont have to pay anything right now, Im going to transfer you to so and so just agree with everything and it will go quickly.
She told me i was being recorded made me spell my name and tried to confuse me Everytime i gave her guff she would transfer me back to d**k face. He would transfer me to her again to start all over. Hang up and they call back. I finally gave them enough that they hung up..
Today they called again,I told them i was going to call my lawyer. He was like for what coffee. I yelled a few f bombs at him an told him to never call again, then hung up.
I left my lawyer a message he has not called back yet.
Has anyone else had this, what do i do?
