Thanks to Donavon and Mindy
I wanted to add my post to the thread about Xtreme Performance Center and Donavon and Mindy. I'm relatively new to riding. I have ridden snow mobiles in the past, and last year decided to take up motorcycle riding. I passed my trike endorsement (I fall off of 2-wheelers real easy), and wanted a good trike to ride.
As many of you know, Xtreme carried the Can-Am Spyder Roadsters. I did my shopping around and decided that Xtreme was the place to buy, and the Spyder was the vehicle to ride. I made the right choice, in more ways than one.
First, I found dealing with Xtreme to be easy and pleasant. I checked them out and found that they had been in business for 14 years, and had a rock solid reputation in the area. Donavan was very involved in the industry here in Colorado, and, for me, Xtreme was the place to do business.
I purchased a Spyder from Xtreme back in October, 2008, and that would have been the end of most stories, except for regular maintenance. Well, it wasn't. And, this speaks volumes for the organization that Donavan and Mindy built up, the quality of their staff, and their commitment to their customers. My Spyder was great to ride, but had one serious flaw. It would lock in gear, especially in the most dangerous parts of a ride (i.e. I-25 or on a very busy street). The bike spent the better part of the next 5 months in the shop while BRP worked with the Xtreme techs down at the Castle Rock store to try and fix it. They tried fix after fix.
I had worked with Mindy during this time, and she did not hesitate to provide me with a loaner bike to help me get through this tough time. Finally, after the bike failed one too many times, I drove up to the Longmont store and met with Donavon and Mindy. They had already been working with the manufacturer and were familiar with everything I had been through. It was nice to know that owners can be that involved.
Here's the really cool part. Not long after this meeting, Donavon took the initiative and let me trade in my flawed bike for a replacement bike from his stock. To say this least, this really helped me and got me back on the road a lot sooner than if I had continued to wait on the manufacturer to fix the problem. This is the kind of commitment to customer satisfaction that will be missed here in the Denver area.
During the all too short time I have been dealing with both Donavon and Mindy, I have come to respect their integrity and their commitment to be better than the rest. I will miss doing business with Xtreme and just riding down to the Castle Rock store to talk with the staff.
Hopefully, Donavon and Mindy will make another go at this in the not too distant future. I know how much the business and their customers (more like family) meant to them.
I saw Mindy at the Castle Rock store the last Saturday they were open, and I could tell that what was happening was truly hard on her and Donavon. If I had known the store would close two days later, I would have stayed longer to talk with both her and Donavon, and wish them well in a more proper manner. As it is, I'm grateful Mindy "talked" me into buying a great riding jacket to wear instead of the Harley jacket I was wearing. Each time I saw either Mindy or Donavon, they told me I needed something better to wear when riding my Spyder and would kid me about a Harley on the Roadster.
To both Donavon and Mindy. Thank you for being the kind of people I would have enjoyed doing business with for years to come. Our business association was all too short.
Please let me know if you do something else.
