XP turbo build part 3

Hey Guys

Quick update. Just got back from the first test run, and this machine runs flawlessly!!!

I was riding between 5000-6000 ft/asl, quick clicker was set on 2 pulling 8200rpm ran as high as 12lbs boost, EGT's were a little cool at 1050 but I wanted to error on the side of caution, I turned my fuel pressure down to about 3.5lbs and this machine is perfect. No lag, no blurps, hesitation, just a perfect running machine. With the smaller main jets it is acutally crisper on the bottom end then a stock machine and then when the boost kicks in it's awesome.

Finally a turboed machine that is not boggy on the bottom end, it is crisp with no hesitation through the whole power band!!!

Thanks for everyones input with this build could not have done it without you guys knowledge.

Jeff

aww.... come on. every one knows a carbed turbo xp doesn't run. lol...:face-icon-small-coo

Glad it is working great for you. I run like 4-5psi base presure with reference line disconected from the regulator. with it hooked up to the back of the carbs to get a little vacuume it is around 3-3.5psi at idle. What size pilot jets did you end up with and what size main jets?
I am clear down to like 12.5 pilots. I think my mains are around 370's. can't remember. it has ben a long time. I will have mine apart soon to check.
I think throttle responce on mine is better then a bone stock sled. then a half a second latter it just starts building power and takes off. if in and out of the throttle in a climb and turbo is spooled power is instant.

12.5 pilots and 350 mains flow jets 2 turns open. Honestly best running turbo I have owned. Better then stock performance and then boost kicks in and HELLOOOO!!! Way easier to tune then an efi machine as well. Super simple machine to get dialed.

I will see if I can get some video footage next weekend. I like the 154" track, for my kind of riding a turboed 153-155 depending on sled manufacture, is all I would ride.

Because this was my first real ride on an XP I don't have much else to compare it too. The only thing I can compare it to is my dragon that I was very comfortable on. When I first got on the sled for the trail ride in I noticed the machine to be much more stable and easier to steer, it just feels better all around.

Then I went into some deeper powder and tried some tight 360's I used the same technique as I used with the dragon come in to the turn, counter steer for half second while blurping on the power and then give tons of jam and do sea doo turns until your dizzy, with this method I was sitting about 10 feet from my sled after the first turn covered in snow wondering what just happened to me. What I found out is when you give the XP a good amount of jam while it is up on one ski it want's to correct and sit down flat on both ski's which in turn catpultes you half way across the world. So I quickly learned that my old riding style would have to be forgotten. So after several more close ejection calls, I finally got the hang of tight turns by giving the machine a steady increase in throttle with some light rider input you can get it to crank nicely and controlled.

After that experience I decided to use my new found knowledge in the tree's in some pretty technical stuff. This is where the machine shines and where I noticed the big difference from the dragon. I found it very effortless to go through the tight tree's in very off angle terrain. I found that when on the dragon in a tight area in an off angle down hill situation where you needed to make a turn back up the hill through tight tree's the dragon always wants to flop to the low side, this is where you have to gun the power pull the machine over and head back up the hill usually at a much faster pace then wanted. With the XP I took the technique I learned from the tight turns, I gave the machine a bit of power, rider input and very controlled the machine went up the hill and was able to pick any line I wanted. It didn't want to dive back down the hill, once you figure out it's handling characteristics the machine will go where you want it to go with less effort.

So to make a long story even longer, I really like how the machine is setup I, the 154 track IMO for how I ride is the only track to use, and I am quite happy with the stock skid.

Thanks

Jeff

Good news!

Good to hear how well it worked for you. I just finished putting the turbo on my xp and cant wait to ride it....... just no snow here in utah. I also have the 154 and was wondering how it will handle for my riding style... guess time will tell. Your sled looks awesome. Did you ever put a snow flap on? Last pics i saw it didnt have one and was wondering if you had any heat issues on your ride.

This is a BOOST for me .. Been draggin my feet around all weekend. I wish I would have seen this earlier Maybe I would have mine close for a tune ride.

Thanks! I did not put a flap back on and had no over heating issues at all, and I was running it in some very hard pack. I think the ported track helps quite a lot with cooling as it throws so much snow on to the coolers.

Get it done, you will be super stoked with it! If it's anything like mine is your first ride will be more of ride and not so much of a tune.

Glad to hear your sled is ripping. Still messing w/ mine before the first ride of the year.

Hey what does everyone think, those that posted should get a big discount on a set of custom running boards for their turbo XP's:face-icon-small-win

I knew it!

Gotta love those Aero charged XP's. I knew you would be bang on. You asked all the right questions and used all the right parts. Congrats!

Good to hear!!!! Carb sleds work great. And yes I sure have to agree you got the right parts!:face-icon-small-hap

TO THE WORLD: XP'S ROCK TURBOED!!

And don't just take my word for it:rockon:

It's great to see dealers such as yourself give keep giving support for your product even when it wasn't purchased new. Just look at how this project turned-best running, easiest to tune turbo he's owned. I get so excited to see all these turbo XP's. If I ever get to my other turbo projects, I'll be looking you up.

Turboboyz all the way!

I like to toot my own horn more, but the service you will get from Bryce won't be matched. My Aero 66 run's the same way. More responsive than stock on the bottom end and hang on when she hits full boost, which I feel is instantaneous! I believe its the Aero compressor myself.

Thanks, it's awesome to have a turbo that runs so well! I would like to give all you guys a discount on the boards unfortunately we don't have plans to put them into production, we have had a crazy amount if interest in them though, that's for sure!

Thanks

Carb tubo's do work awesome, I was really worried about this to start with but, this kit as a package is perfect.

It's super simple with the AERO turbo, and really simple to tune, either you have the right jets or you don't, either your flow jets are set right or there not. That's what really got me interested in this setup because of how simple and how few components to the system. Thanks for your help with my questions and the support even though I purchased a used system!

12 lbs-atta boy!! Sounds great.

Found all my weak spots there, but you've got those addressed already. Said it before, but, man that is a good looking sled.
