XP turbo build part 3

Ok started on the gauge pod tonight, wanted to make it fairly simple and clean. Got everything tacked up, now I will just take it off and clean it up and mount everything, then I can start running the wires and hoses to it. It is in a great location that allows me to see everything clearly and also still see my factory gauges as well.

Thanks

Jeff

Woooohoooo

Part 3...... The finale???? Looks close! I like how you built sleeves around gauges, mine are wide open on the bottom and look pretty vulnerable tithe elements. Are you reading h20 temp too?

Thanks, yes the finale!!! I never like the open back gauges, 1 because as you mentioned it's exposed to the elements and two it doesn't look clean, so I started putting the sleeves to clean things up. Just reading EGT, fuel pressure, and boost.

Thanks for your feedback

Lookin good... :camera:
Should be getting going on mine again. Just waiting on a new throttle cable assembly, Only had one strand of cable left holding it together.

Atleast you caught it now. when I very first got the turbo installed on my xp I was having run on really bad. After a couple rides I finally noticed the cable was frayed at the oil pump. cable being frayed was not allowing it to go back in the cable sheave. That is what was causing the run on. Kicking myself in the *** because I just had the engine out and everything apart for the turbo install and did not notice it.

yep, i keep a eye on mine after each season...... they seem to like to go on you fairly often.... maybe every 2-3 seasons they last?

I bought my 08 brand new dec of 07. cable lasted the first two years and was frayed at the begining of the 3rd year. It has ben fine the last two years. I will check it when I have it apart again here soon to put new pistons in it. I put new pistons in every year just as a preventative maintenance.
Last time I put a spi throttle cable in for a 06 summit x. $16 vs $45 or so for a oem one. Spi cable was a few inches longer on throttle end and a few inches shorter on oil pump end. Just had to route the oil pump end a little different. I believe the cable end is different on 09 and newer though. Not positive. I believe RSI has a cheaper then oem throttle cable for 09 and newer.
Heck.... Maybee I will just put a new throttle cable in anyways for $16 while it is apart and not have to worry about it.

Well she's finally finished, fired it up today and hung it by the bumper and ran it up! Everything seems to be working well, my BOV opens at idle but as soon as you give it a bit of juice it slams shut, this is what ELI mentioned his did in the part 2 of the build. Other then that she is great no fuel leaks, don't seem to have any boost leaks, everything seems good, idles great, I guess now it's just time to test it!

Thanks for everyone's input up until this point! Everything that you guys have contributed saved some trial and error, so thank you very much!!!

Hi Bryce

Thanks, we will keep everyone posted, hopefully get up to the mountains Friday afternoon for a quick test run to make sure everything is working, then out for a real ride on Saturday if everything works proper. We will post how she works.

Thanks

I agree Jeff. A turbo sled can be reliable. Having all those things you mentioned are vital. Hope you love the XP on boost! Taking mine out on Sunday to test new clutching, blow-off valve and cold air intake. Should be that much better again.

Let me know how she goes. I am taking my out Saturday to see how the maiden voyage works out!
