XP ski loop

YES:mad:

And isn't it great that BRP sez the ski loops are not for towing. Can you believe it--hollow ski loops:confused: Same goes for the hollow bumpers on the REVs--not for lifting:eek:

What planet doo these guys come from?

deadly loop

that loop is gonna kick your azz, beleive me. if the old one is broken just cut the loop around where the push rivet is. so then you can either grind it or grab it with a needle nose vise grip to drill it. when reinstalling just use a long bolt instead.

I don't remember the drill size as once the rivet spun the ski went to the dealer who had a "special" tool. Grinding that sucker--good advice

ski loop

just replaced mine last weekend (wanted different color) first i drilled each side of the so called rivet head off, then i took a saw zall and cut through this so called rivet be careful not to hit the ski, then used a screwdriver and pryed the ski loop out in halfs, took 5 minutes a side, down fall was i ruined the old ski loop and I just put bolts back in. hope this helps

ski loops a pain

Hi there, I tried doing this two years ago as I wanted white loops. Thinking it was an easy change, I drilled out the rivets, wrecked the old loops and once I had the new ones in they didnt fit that well and the new rivets fell out periodically. Just another way for Ski-doo to try and get customers to go into the dealer to spend more $ to have their techs do it as they know most people will screw it up. Anyway, I ended up putting bolts in as one of the other guys mentioned on this thread. Good luck.

My friendly ski-doo dealer swapped me skis and loops on my new x, I wanted white loops as pictured in all the press photos, not the blue ones it came with.....they just traded skis and loops to avoid the exact problems you guys are describing.

There is a gap between the loop and the ski. Drill down thru here into the rivet with a small bit (maybe 3/64"). You only need to go in a bit, maybe 1/4". Then either hold the rivet from turning with this drill bit or swap in a small stiff wire of the same 3/64" diameter into this hole to anchor the rivet from turning. Drill rivet out using ~ 1/2" bit until the head falls off. I have done this numerous times and works great.
This is for putting new loops in - I have never tried to remove the rivet completely.

me too, sort of
