XP Review - BRP: PLEASE Build these RIGHT the First time!

nikolai arent you singing a differant tune on ty, shocks, running boards, vents, stuff to keep snow out of the engine compartment, rear suspension change, that sounds like mods to me

Proper torsion springs for my weight, fox floats(for jumping)pre-filter for the vents, pivoting riser, and better boards are things that 90% of sledders do, not mods. My style of riding required a few changes, not yamis fault although some things seemed like they should have came from the factory that way.

Carnage

The verdict is in; Lost the mag side lower rod bearing and it took out the cylinder also.

Ummmmmmmmm, is it just me, or didnt BRP's marketing for this years 800R address this problem that they knew they had last year........

I specifically asked the BRP rep in West last year about this issue since I didnt want the 800R if they still had that bearing tolerance issue going on...........

Boy, I guess I'll believe anything, Oh well, No skin off my azz, My DOO warranties will get a workout. BRP, its going to cost you for the Dog & Pony show you paraded out in front of me...................

Oh! & Btw Brp ...................

I did some "SLIM Math" real quick, and since I have the 2 year warranty, I finger its gonna cost BRP about $12,000 USF for the life of me owning the XP. I keep my sleds 2 years so................

I ride about 2000 miles per year.

The 800R lasts about 500 miles.

4 Motors per year.

$1500 per motor (Seem right?)

4 x $1500 = $6000 Year 1.

4 x $1500 = $6000 - (4) $50 deductables = $200 = $5800 Year 2.

$6000 + $5800 = $11,800 which is more than I bought the sled for...........

Seems fair don't it folks???

Oh Wait, we own 2 of them (SnoJo's) $11,800 x 2 = $23,600 :D:D:cool:

Slim, is this your second motor on your XP or just the first. I'm curious. Fug that sucks ! So it begins !

not bad... but I am on my FIFTH BELT at 150 miles... sled is going to the dealer and can stay there

dealer (Mac's Cycle, Clarkston, WA) fixed the handwarmers, prime jets, turned down the oil injection... ordered new gear and chain... took measurements off a XP not having belt problems and applied same alignment to mine (difference 1/8 inch) and a new 166 belt...spent yesterday hammering the sled on anything vertical... no threads no abnormal clutch heat

That's why I paid 3 grand more for the pleasure of buying my sled in Canada. Crank and top end last year on my 07 nothing so far on my 08. I put about 5000mi on my sleds in a year . I wouldn't be surprised if BRP came out with a 2 years or 3000mi warranty. Slim maybe you should ask BRP for a couple of grand not buy and more doo's !

the first thing u need to do is throw that stock rear clutch away and put a team clutch on. this will cure ure belt problems. the xp's come way to low geared so i geared mine up two teeth on the top gear. what a difference!! I ride with a couple guys that have new dragons and spanked them everywhere we go.

"They need to be geared down"

"They need to be geared up"

"You need to clean your clutches with wombat piss"

Aaarrrggghhhhh:mad:

I can't keep up with this crap!

Just my 2 cents. I'm relatively new to snowmobiling. Last year I bought a new a/c m8. After 1000 miles of riding the only thing I had go wrong is the gas cap leaked(probably tightened it too much). Traded it in on an 08 m1000 this year. 400 miles on it so far and everything seems great. I have experienced a bog on initial throttle very intermittantly. Took it to my dealer, he made a couple of adjustments to the belt deflection and the throttle cable freeplay. Seems to have fixed my minor problem just fine. To sum it up...two years on arctic cats and very little problems=me being a repeat customer. Ski doo riders are very brand loyal or they wouldn't put up with all these problems I constantly hear about. I would be looking for a different sled mfg. if I had a fraction of these problems. Oh yeah, I'm pretty much a new rider but have yet to be high marked by any sled so far. If a good running xp takes me on the hill then so be it, I'll be riding the next day, will he?????

.........And how many years does A/C have on that chassis??

Not trying to defend BRP, make sure you compare the same things. First year sled VS 4 year out chassis. Good comparison??? I vote not. You can have your 500lb sled.

Why change things if they work. I'm happier with a company that uses a product that gives a customer what they pay for, not a company that uses its customers a guinnea pigs on their underdeveloped product!!! Oh yeah, as far as my 500 lb machine goes, its fine with me, I guess i'm just man enough to move it around when I have to, it hasn't been a problem for me at all. I'd rather ride a 500 lb machine out of the hills than carry or tow a 440 lb POS out. If you want apples to apples, compare the xp to the m7...first year, I bet the m7s had fewer problems!!!!!
