XP owners-Your driveshaft WILL break

Welding these shafts will not solve your problem.... The problems is that the stub shafts don't stick far enough into the tube of the axle which allows them to wobble and eventually break. It'a good fix to get them back on the trailer and to your dealer... JMO

That was my sled with the broken axle @ hope sylvan laker. No issues with the warranty...but they gave me the same BS..no welding or void warranty and they said there isn't nearly enough broken ones "YET" for a recall but it may happen down the road. There is suppose to be a "better" shaft out which was suppose to be installed into mine today. As far as visually checking them before riding good luck as mine showed no signs of being weak and broke so cleanly on the chain case side that it was really hard to see unless u were spinning the clutch.

finally

My dealer finally got word from brp that they would not void the warranty on any shafts that were welded. I have been waiting to hear that it would be covered under warranty.

Just a thought....really long magnesium chaincase...steel chain... think coefficient of expansion difference between the two metals. If the chain is tight when the case is cold, it is going to get REALLY tight as the chaincase warms up and the shaft centers move away from each other. Think of the forces that are in play here. If I owned one of these sleds I would make sure that the chain had a little slack immediately after I had made a LONG full throttle pull in deep powder. Again just a thought...feel badly for you guys that are having this issue.

Sorry VTX...was just joking! back in my modding days i use to think of every detail too! when i ran pyro's on my sled..i use to worry alot about the temps all the time! the best thing i did was throw them away and just ride and have fun again! if it happens..then it happens!
