Xp owners watch your secondary

Why is it Yamaha can come up with that kind of setup. It would make a lot of sense and sure be nice to buy 1 belt and have it work for my 2 550 freestyles, 2 600 summits and XRS.

I'm pretty sure last time I bought belts, the 600's even used different belts......Stupid.

One is an 05 HO and the other is an 06 SDI

I heard of a guy that owns an XP that drilled vent holes in his belt just like people are doing for thier tracks. It really helped with rolling mass and to keep the clutches cool too. He put 340 miles on last weekend with no problems.......JK LOL

There seems to be conflicting info on belt performance and wear. I looked at a friends 146 XP last night. It is awesome but to me its not worth it to buy something that has to have special vent kits and clutch set ups to hopefully make things right. The factory should get it right before they put this crap on the snow.

I've been porting my belts for years. Thought I really had a money maker, but you can't put a patent on a hole!!! Hey only clean thoughts here!
I started on my 550 fan which couldn't heat a hot-dogger let alone a drive belt, and a couple years back ported my m7 belt with 1/4" holes. (It was an older belt, and if it blew I'd be out very little) Still run it up and down the trail and use it as a ice break every now and then. My theory was that the more air turbulance generated, it would run cooler. I actually angled the holes back at about a 30 degree angle so as it rounded the primary it would create air flowing through it.
I still think we'll eventually see it in factory belts one day.
Good Luck
Mark
