Since some don't think i contribute to the Doo forum here goes .......

Doo issued a new update list on the 9th. There will be a new belt which is a little wider and i'm sure it will be much better than the 166. How do i know this, i actually saw it for my own eyes today. It is a lot harder compund than the 166 and looked brand new after 200km with hard riding. Some dealers received a few to try them out and get a feel for them. They sit in the secondary much better and initial reports suggest they are really hooking up better than the 166. So maybe we might just see a little less heat.

Doo also issued a update for the S buttons on the dashes. I guess a lot of the little magnets kept falling out from behind the button. The new updated buttons have the magnets built into the rubber button and should work better. If you have had a glitchy display and the modes seem to change on their own or act funny this maybe your problem. You can remove the magnets from the S button from the dash button and just use the S button on the premium guage only if you have it.

Another thing Doo is finding is some of the displays are quitting or acting completely wonky. Some have had differences in the analog speed compared the digital speed. There is a wire which is red/blue that sits just behind the muffler and has chaffed through allowing to change the voltage in the wire. Check it out because it will cause you grief if it starts to rub on the rivet.

Doo is fully aware of the driveshaft issue. No reports on what will be done. Some have a little weld left and others have had the weld completely machined off smooth which will cause the failure. Some are good, some are bad. Take a look and see. If yours is perfectly smooth, you might want to drill a couple holes in it and get it spot filled with weld. If not you might just have to pay for a chopper ride if your lucky enough to ride in a area with chopper service.

Another thing Doo is finding are the DPM rail solenoids are caving causing the machine to run sort of like it is only running on one cylinder and cutting out and what not. Thats all the details i have on that one. So if yours goes maybe check it out.

Ah nothing like first year issues. Enjoy !

Thanks for the contribution. Where you get your info? Please don't take offense. I'm fairly new here and don't know who everybody is yet. I'm assuming you have dealer connections?

see that bullitin in december, but only a few guys got the belts to try. one guy i talked to said it seems to be working fine so far! we can only hope.

Comparing welds

Pics of good shaft verses weak one would be very much appreciated. thanks. Is there a bead you can feel on the "good" shaft and machine marks on the bad?

I looked at 3 sleds today. You can actually see the weld bead if its good. If it is super smooth, look out, BOOM ! Chopper ride out !

Handwarmers

Any word on the handwarmer update? My dealer has some, but said doo told him not to install them.

I guess he was waiting for glue remover.

Here is pics of the latest problem surfacing on the driveshafts, cracks,
http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=192653 I heard about the cracks about a week ago, these are first pics I've seen.

I pulled the driveshaft back out on my TNT I'm longtracking about a month ago and drilled six holes on chain side and four on the brake side and welded but the crack deal could be a problem. I will be checking it every few days when I get it finished and start riding it. My TNT was a very early build (mid august delievery) and I had no problems drilling the holes, just did a shaft from a much later build 154 X and had a heck of time drilling the holes, shaft seemed a bunch harder. Oh and I used the same drill bits and tried multiple bits in case I had a very dull one for some reason. Finally started the holes with a $12 solid carbide 3/16" bit. My guess the center hydroformed tube seemed surface hardened, once I got a hole started through it no problem.

Good Luck

Mine does the in and out on 1 cylinder issue. Did it the first day, a little on the second. Had it in the shop could not find the problem but adjusted some other things. Day 3, 4 and 5 no issues but on day 6 it cut out again, but only once. Ran fine the rest of the day. Pretty unpredictable.

Are the new belts supposed to cost more, I heard upward of $30 than the 166?

Does anyone know for SURE the compound of the newer belt. I had a look/feel at one and can't say by feel if it's harder or softer than a 166. Those running the new belt say it drops RPM which would tell me it's a softer compound. And softer is the direction needed to go to work with the lightweight stock clutch settup....I would think if the new belt was harder it would make things even worse. Or did they also change the side taper of the belt to be a little steeper???
Might have to try one on the '07 to see for myself.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

My Dealer told me about the new belt, but I have not heard from them on the drive shaft. My clutch heat problems are gone after they put in a different clutch set-up. The dealer (some guys call it a "diller")(I hope I am not going to have to explain what a "diller" is) would not tell me what they did and I am not smart enough to tear my clutches apart to see. I wish that BRP would get better info to all dealers for the clutches. I received warranty on the had warmers over New Years and they work great. Is there still a recall on those?

Summitboy- I am glad to see that you have found answers! I could see a lot of Frustration in some of your other posts. Way to go!

I would be pissed if my dealer would not tell me what they did to my sled, it is your sled afterall and you deserve to know.

I've had one cylinder cut out one day at lower rpm's, I thought mebbe it was ice in the carb and turned the valve on for a while and it stopped....wonder if it wasn't the solenoid issue, hmmmm
