Xp clutch bushings 600 bucks ?

So, MY Y PIPE BOLTS CAME OUT i TAKE THE SLED TO THE DEALER THEY TELL ME i NEED TO HAVE CLUTCH BUSHINGS REPLACED , THEY SAID THEY COULD DO IT UNDER WARRANTEE .... WELL THEN THEY CALL ME LAST NIGHT SAY THEY CANT DO IT UNDER WARRANTEE AND IT WILL COST ME 600 TO GET FIXED WTF ? i'M PISSED !
THAT SEEMS A BIT REDICULOUS TO ME ... SEEMS THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET A SWEET AFTER MARKET CLUTCH FOR HALF THAT ? NOT ONLY THAT THE SLED IS BARELY A YEAR OLD AND ONLY HAS 6 -7 HUNDRED MILES ON IT .
i HAD A TRICKED OUT 07' rmk 600 LAST YEAR AND PUT 1800 MILES ON IT NEVER ONCE HAD A PROBLEM WIT IT AND NEVER ONCE HAD TO CHANGE A BELT !
SOME INPUT PLEASE ? THANKS IN ADVANCE .

I had mine replaced under warrenty. I think they told you wrong on the price. $600 for bushings, and rollers seems a little steep to me. I'd tell them to just clean them, and put them back together, and you'll take it somewhere else. JMO! I was told that if they were worn at all, it's covered under warrenty. If they were not worn, you'd have to buy them if you wanted the new ones.

Don't do it!! One bushing as $15 and takes about 15 minutes to replace, the other in the spring cap is $65 INCLUDING the spring cap!!! 1 hour of labor for both.

sound like you need a differend dealer--for 600 you could buy a 20 ton press--tools and still save 400 bucks:eek::eek:

You could buy a whole new TRA for that much money. Would find out exactly what was replaced and how much time for labor and post it bacxk here.
when my rollers went out the first time I took the dealer just the clutch and tried to get new bushings under warranty. said the bushings are a wear part like the belt and not subject to warranty.

Time to ***** a lot.....they should take care of it and rember, the squeeeeky wheel gets the grease!!!

You can also look on partspitstop.com for ski doo parts at a 30% discount from what many dealers charge.

Don't be afraid to go over the dealers head and go straight to Ski-Doo. Call them and write them and remind them that you chose their sled over your Polaris and that you won't stand for it. Seems to work pretty good from what I've seen. Got a riding buddy that has had 4 engines put in his 07 in 2000 miles. This worked for him.

Where? I was told $1434 for a new primary from my dealer last year. The primary is not sold as a complete assembly. You have to buy all the parts and assemble it. That is full retail, but I don't know where you are going to get 58% off retail.

Same thing happened to me last year, rollers, bushing and spring cup went out after 1,000+ miles (symptom was it sounded like shaking an aluminum can filled with change as it back shifted). Everything was replaced under warranty, because my dealer (Steel Dreams in Mount Vernon WA) just plain kicks a$$. They did say that the clutch requires maintenance prior to 1,000 miles, but nobody mentioned that when I bought it, or when I took it in for the initial service (or when I got the faulty heated grips replaced, or when I got the oil tank replaced, etc.). They seemed pretty surprised by the wear. I'm pretty sure it was caused by excess heat triggered by the initial 166 belt being out of spec (I'd only blown one btw). If I was in your shoes I would call BRP and complain about the clutch going out due to that issue. After all, they admitted the issue in their marketing for the '09s (e.g., now with "improved" rollers). May also want to look at your ski spindle bushings while you're at it ;)

Rollers

A buddy's 08 rollers were shot at 800 miles...He bought the new ones, shouldn't BRP warranty them? or is this a individual dealer item?? And if they fail again is there a aftermarket roller that lasts longer? Dino

Ok I called BRP and B!tched today !
my service unit report says that the bushings tra spring pto re and spring had been replaced as of 11-11 08' which was jus barely over 2 months ago . the mechanic at high adventure powersports here in UT said , there's no way it was replaced then or it wouldnt be in the condition it's in now !
so two clutch rebuilds in two months seems rediculous or is it just me ?

I changed out all my rollers at the beginning of the year, in nov. Took the dam thing apart to change the spring a week ago and had bad rollers again and with very worn ramps from the rollers going bad. Changed put every part in there with new. And yes, 2 clutch rebuilds in 2 months is rediculous, but it does happen. The doo roller material is crap.
