xcr800 edge rmk clutching

I did a thread search, but spent an hour wading through treads and got nowhere. I know there are guys on here that have xcr800's in edge chassis RMK's. I bought this sled (02 RMK w/151") and it already had the xcr motor. I could not get it to tach up. It would only turn 7000rpm. I found a busted power valve, fixed that, but it still has issues. The guy I bought it from has no idea what is in it for clutching. It has a Team roller secondary. I don't know the brand of the primary, but the weights all have two holes in them(one in the tip and one on the shoulder) for tuning purposes.
With the new power valve, it still won't pull past 7200rpm. It sounds much better and pulls harder, but I'm pretty sure I should be around 8200-8400rpm. If anyone knows a good set up, clutching and gearing, I'd appreciate it. Also, what are you doing for jetting? This guy had 440, 450, 490(pto, center, mag). Are you using stock pilot jets? It has HTG pipes and is stock otherwise. My home altitude is 1000ft, but I also head west each year to 8-10,000ft. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have ran my xcr edge with both a Team and a button secondary. IMO the Button will yield better overall results. These are a couple set ups i know work well from 3k to 6k using the Button clutch. hope this helps.

Set up 1

Primary
Almond spring
10/58 weights

secondary
r/8 helix
silver/blue spring

Set up 2

Primary
Almond spring
10/58 weights

Secondary
r/11 helix
black/silver spring

i second using the button clutch with a 44/48/36 mountain helix from slp! i had the same pipes and out west they didnt work as well as they did at home and im at sea level! as for jetting i was running 460 straight across and i had guages on it to see the diffrences in temp and it wasnt as bad as you might think! out west at 9000 to 12000 ft i ran the same secondary just tightened up the spring and i think i was at about 340 in the jetting range! what size track and what is your gearing?im not 100 % sure on weights but i think i was pulling 58 grams! if thats to heavy use 56 grams. you want that motor to turn 8200 and no more in my opinion and i ran a few of these motors and had some luck w them! if your interested i have a set of custom cut pistons for that motor they are cut on the exhaust side to change the port timing and it moved pretty good w it i would send them to you for shipping if you will use them!thanks

my track is a 151x2. No idea what is in it for gears. I was hoping you would know good gearing.

What didn't work well with the pipes? Was it just altitude loss? I thought about buying heads for it for out west to help with that.

Tomorrow I'm going to go through the three or four sets of clutches I have and see what I need to buy.

I have a back up motor from a sled I wrecked a few years ago, so I probably wont need your pistons, but thanks for the offer.

Know anyone that want to buy a Team roller? What is it worth?

Thanks again.

as for gearing i would run auround a 220 ratio with that track! as for the pipes i think i was told to get a set of jaws pipes for altitude! them pipes work well down low! as for your clutching issue i would start out fresh w a button and a good primary! good luck selling the team i have one thats just about brand new that i wana get rid of to! good luck

I had 900 HTG big bore XCR VES motor in mine and Crankshop pipes. 156 track

around 9k elevation I was running something like

165/340 primary spring (TEAM)
10-56s
Button secondary with orange spring (I think, stiffest spring they made)
Straight 36 helix

19/43 gearing

Can't remember jets exactly, but I was down in the 290 range I believe?

I was running 8700-8800 RPM

I tried TEAM secondary and Cat roller secondary and couldn't make either work. Button worked perfectly on mine.

Just my 2 cents

I pulled my primary apart tonight. One arm with all of the weights in it was 82 grams. Even with all the screws/weights removed, the bare arm still weighed 64 grams. I don't know how this ever ran good with this stuff.

Are the Crankshop pipes fitted for RMK's? My HTG pipes are fit for edge, but not RMK edge, so they are melting holes in my bellypan.

Holy cow 82 grams! that will defiantly bring the RPM's down. My pipes fit really good in my Edge RMK, but i did notice a small hole melted in my belly pan.

82 grams......:D:D You lucky bastard!

Can you guess how fun it's going to be now when you put in 10-58s or something?????

Ride safe
