Xc 800 top end bog

Hello, I'm a brand new member and this is my first post. I just bought a 2001 xc800 and the temp light comes on at the last 1/2" of throttle then it goes into limp mode. Let off a little and the light goes out and power returns. As the sled warms up it gets worse and happens at lower throttle position. I've checked tps with a homemade tool from this forum and my volt was 3.78, I adjusted to 4.0. Didnot fix the prob. The sled will run 8200rpm when I feather throttle just below temp light turnon. The sled is not overheating, I check with ir thermo evertime and its only running 135-145f. Thanks

Have you tried changing the temp sensor? Might have air in the system, may need to try and burp it. Coolant topped up?

Original motor, not updated to have the DET sensor right?

Bet its the temp sensor that is bad. I carry the little bypass resistor that SLP sells that allows me to check it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am going to city tomorrow for new susp rails and will pick up a new temp sensor. I hope that's the problem. I notice it shares a ground wire with tps. All wires look good. I have ruled out air because I can turn the temp light on and off at will with throttle position. I was just wondering if this is a common problem, or if I have a "never heard of that" issue. Tps volts move up and down smoothly.
