Xbox info needed

Well, I thought I could make it without having to buy one of these *&^%$ things, but after 17 years my daughter finally wants one. I guess her friends all have them, and she's tired of getting her arse kicked cause she doesn't know how to play stuff very well.

Anyhoo, I don't know diddly about them and there appears to be several different ones. I know Xbox Live allows you to play online, I don't think I need that. Any suggestions or do I need to give more info?

There are 2 models X-box and X-box 360, and the bad news is your daughter is going to want the 360 which is about $350. Find out what games she wants because sometimes they come in a bundle.

Yep the xbox 360 comes in a bundle pack with guitar hero 2 for like $350.
Also get guitar hero 3 as an additional purchase.

Im not sure if DDR(dance dance revolution) comes on the xbox 360 but thats an awesome game as well

I personally only play the EA NCAA games (football, basketball) but i am like 15 seasons in on my college football dynasty, im closing in on the 200 victory mark with no losses... man it needs to snow so i will get out more!

on a side note, the Wii is alot of fun too! They are a little cheaper than the xbox 360, but require more energy than just sitting and being lazy...

i've gotta admit it, the Wii is a ton of fun... but the games are generally a lot more simplistic, but they require you to move around and stuff... my son just got one a couple days ago (early xmas gift from gramma and grampa) and i find myself playing it quite a bit... particularly the bowling... its cool man...

I think I'll try to find a slightly used one on ebay, she won't mind. Then hopefully it will have 2 controllers and maybe even whatever games they play. I think they like Halo-whatever-version-is-newest.

There are two generations of X-box's. The standard X-box and now the X-box 360. All of her friends have the 360 since it is the newest, best graphics and resolution, best games, and best utilizes X-box live (playing on-line against real people and friends).

Get her the 360 and yes you need to get her hooked up to X-box live. Not only can she play her friends but it also enables you to download all the latest free system and game upgrades to keep your unit running properly.

The most popular game out right now in her market is Guitar Hero. It is very fun and a blast to play with friends.

And for your market........ if you are into first person shooting games then definitely get CALL OF DUTY 4. For sports games you cant go wrong with Madden football or Tiger Woods golf.

I would buy a new one the old ones that are probably on ebay are the old ones that would over heat. At Minimum get the one with twh 20 GIG Hard Drive. Some games can not be played on teh base model from what I've heard.

played the demo i downloaded and it was a sweet game!

I get motion sick playing those games (halo, COD, DOOM, etc) so i can only play for like 5 minutes before i want to puke sucks cause i didnt used to be that way, but i will tell you that you never want to play me in NCAA Football 08, i will kick your a$$!!!

My favorite game on the wii is tiger woods golf... too much fun!!! I am hoping they come out with a real tennis game!

i'm a bit of a bowler to begin with, wii bowling is a ton of fun, bt i'll have to try the golf as well since i golf also... these interactive games are way cool...

As a side note, they have a built in feature in the guitar hero games apparenlty #2 quits working the minute they get #3. That must be why the older one is never touched.

you will want to check ebay, my kid just bought his for $275. I just bought for Xmas a bundle of newer games for $139 off ebay...so its worth it when each game goes for more then $50bucks!! ebay is the way to buy. I am selling the Xbox with about 12 games for $250.....but she might want the 360!! lol, happy sleddin!

Brian, check the local game shops for used equipment and games. I have both and the 360 is the way to go, but the older version will get her started and there are tons of games for that unit.

Call of Duty 4 ROCKS! Get Live i thought it was lame until I tried it now I play against all of my buddies from work and its a blast i actually have 2 360 and 2 big screens in the living room currently with the roomies we have fun every night...
