We left Kremmling at 7:30am! I drove so we were moving at 70-75mph. By the time we got to the Pass there were only a couple spots left on the side lot going up the East side of the Pass. The lower Muddy Pass lot still had 3' of snow as CDOT had so graciously not plowed out. But the skier lots were clean as a whistle. Go figure. just in the time that we were unloading, getting dressed and locking the trailer at least 40 trucks/SUVs with sleds passed by. On the way back my truck was the only one left it that lot. But we could see where people had just parked on the side of HWY 40, unloaded and went riding. Folks had parked all of the way down to the lower CDOT chain up lot 3 miles from the bottom of the Pass.

In my entire life I have never seen anything like that. Snow was good, but very heavy. Snow had settled pretty solid by Day's end. Hopefully we get some new snow soon. Set itselef up for a nice fluffy 2' dump. The place where I rode had easily 4' of new snow. Tracks never came close to touching the original base except in the windblown areas.

I know that there were several issues with parking that resembled the parking problems at Cetennial in Wy. If people cannot figure out how to be decent and cordial to their fellow sledders they are gonna end up fueling the USFS to go ahead with the pay to park deal. And today was not a great way to defend sledders.

Plus you get people that aren't familiar with how to handle a truck and trailer. You see the guy who went nose first into the east side MC spillover lot with a 4 place trailer? Took cdot using a loader to pull him out, shut down the road in both directions, jackknifed the guys trailer, it was a mess. People learn how to maneuver your stuff!

1 day out of the last .... I don't know, 60 since the season began?

Guess we better go change everything.

Not gonna matter what they do with new parking, idiots are still going to be idiots.

We saw the stuck. Gotta say I am not sure what he was thinking. Firm, packed snow was over the bumper on the truck, trailer way out in both lanes of the hiway. I saw another guy do that with an open trailer in the same spot a couple of years ago. Same result. The parking areas were crazy full. Some trucks and trailers down at the intersection of Hiway 14. :pop2::pop2:

re mayhem 2/2/13

went to work on a new setup. knew it would be packed but had no idea there would be that many people. got there around 8 and got one of the last spots on the east side below the meadow/highway parking. for as many people as were there, still got to some our spots untouched. when we left, we rode by the mc lot and i told the guy i was with i was sure there would be some sort of violence there before the end of the day. saw trailers parked beyond the bottom of the pass on the way home. unreal.

on a side note, i don't know what cans these polaris guys had on their pros, but goddamn they were friggin' loud when they were sidehilling. i never used to notice that stuff and have certainly been guilty of running them in the past but these were deafening. i hope they at least make power.....

Actually Thursday andf Friday were pretty jammed also. Not riding today but I bet it's the same.

Saw some pretty funny stucks all day long. Got there late and had to park at the bottom of the hill. Coming back along the road there is a guy standing over the bank waving at me to stop. His sled is tits up and he's just standing there. I stopped and just looked at him like what? Help he says. I"m like just roll it over and go! For chits sakes sledding is full of some dumb f hillbillies that don't know how to ride. I saw so many people stuck with their skis point to the sky. I got stuck probably 3 maybe 4 times in some knarly chit too. I guess it's an art form knowing how to get stuck the right way and be able to get yourself out all by yourself. I'm losing patience riding with some of the people I ride with. I'm going to put a big sign on the back of my short track. It will say "Don't follow me!" I don't feel like digging your dumbazz out again ok?

wow

i got there very late, but was able to get into a lot. everyone in the lot was very respectful. i let a stranger box me in since i knew i would be the last guy out of the lot that night. to me it seemed like a lot of new people to the area. i never saw so many people looking at the trail signs before. also there were was a lot of areas what had only been track up by to or 3 sleds or so.i think the superbowl forced more people to come on one day, but also as more areas like in summit county get shut down the more were forced to ride the same areas. i didn't look at truck plates but i wonder how many out of staters there were? i should look at the cas website to see if there wasn't a club ride up there also. days like those is when cas needs to set up a tent to get people to join up with cas or have club info for there area. our voice needs to be of one, because it seems that the more we do as a club the more they are willing to work with us.

All the more reason they need to designate 2 of those skiier lots "multiple use" and open 1/2 the skiier area up to snowmobiling as well.

Technically I think you can park there. There are no signs saying you can't. You just run the risk of having those twig fairies mess with your crap.

Rode up by Clark and almost had the mountain to ourselves.

Me thinks that is where I'm gonna go from here on out.

I had the same issue Duke had. We had some gapers following us and the chicks kept getting stuck and of course their men were nowhere to be found so we bailed them out time after time. Finally we had enough and barrled into the thick trees to lose them. Judging from the cussing and screaming I think we did just that.

I have to say it was great where we parked. There were 4 or 5 drift breaks that had been plowed up. I lost count how many people I saw roll their sled belly up trying to get over them. That alone was worth the price of admission haha.

The way it is set up currently you have to ride through some of the no snowmobile/skier only area to get out of these lots. It's ok for cdot to drive their groomer in these areas but not ok for you to ride a snowmobile.

Well of course. Honestly, I could care less about the "skier"only area. They have an area like that and there are several around the state. Let them pay lift ticket prices. And it's ok to use a sled to rescue their stupid as$es when they need help too.
