Wow, Polaris 2014

Good common sense presentation Dan... thank you for taking the time to share that with us.

The two sleds that I'm kind of excited about are the Indy 144" with the 550 Fan and the Voyager 144" with the 600 CFI.

Both have coil-over rear suspensions.

These may be just the ticket for a small mod sled for the kids.

I can see a 550 Indy, get the RMK steering angle... PowderTrack running boards and a good lightweight 2" or 2.25" track under it, Fox Float2's front and back with some light A-arms, headlight delete, and some other goodies. ... Heck...I'd bet you could pull off a 380 lb 550 fan and not get too crazy.

I was also interested in the Voyager until I figured out it weighs 498 lbs. or something. Does it have the coil-over? I was thinking it did not from the pictures.

Well it's good to hear from an expert that I have been correctly warming up my engines for years now. I faithfully start my sleds as soon as I pull them out of the truck, let them idle for 10 to 15 minutes and then shut them off and let them heat soak. Usually because some yells "shut that noisey pos off" Then I enjoy a refreshing beverage, sometimes two. Sometimes a regular tailgate party breaks out and I heat soak the hell out of them. :face-icon-small-hap It's always a good time. Thanks once again for sharing your knowledge Dan, no doubt you just saved a pile of engines across the country.

Good info Dan.

Wish I was as good to heat the sled up proper like you, but in the backcountry when we stay at our cabins, it's not really practical to transport a stand wherever I go.

I suggest improvising. find a good size firewoord log.

if you can make it in the back country you can find a stand.:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

That is really great info Dan!

Do you have any insight as to why the other motors are seemingly able with withstand a bit more abuse given the same operating conditions? Simply more mass? Closer attention to tolerances?

Nug! I read this quote from Sir Dyson lol. Had two of his vacuums and the second was better than the first. I thought it "purrtained" lol.

"Perfect is in fact completely the wrong word to use. You start with a goal and you make the best possible version you can make at that moment. You give the customer the best available at that moment, and then you set another goal and start working on it again."

I just have to ask, do you guys think that Polaris isn't working on the next step? Do you not believe that they are building the best sled for 2014 with their most readily available resources? Do you think they don't care about refining and perfecting a great product to sell to their customers? Do you really think there is a lot of room for weight loss on the current chassis without drastic price increase? Do you really want brand new tech on a sled every year and deal with first year issues?

Anyone who gets to ride a new snowmobile, no matter the brand, is spoiled. I consider us Pro RMK guys a little more spoiled because of how light and agile these sleds feel in situations that would bury a sled a few years back.............

But a few guys on here lately are sounding less spoiled, and more like whiny frickin brats. It's getting really annoying. If you are constantly disappointed in Polaris, build your own sled, and start your own forum. They should have a special section in the forums for you guys, call it the Negative Nancy forum. Sub forums could be My Sled Sucks, My Warranty Sucks, My Dealer Sucks, My Manufacturer Sucks, and My Vagina Hurts.
