A large screw driver or crow bar will do the job just fine. I put deep well socket in after it is compressed to hold it in place while you work on the weights.

I don't have a picture, but it's pretty simple... just stick a socket or something in between the spider and the outer cover after you compress the spring (the socket just keeps the spring compressed after you remove the prying device). It will keep the flyweight free so you can check the bushings or change the weights or both.

OS, just a minor correction. You'll want to put something between the spider and moveable sheave to unload the weights.
