Worth going to an 18?

I have a 17 base model with only about 400 miles on it, One year warranty still left. Found an 18 I think LE? Sharp color and of course different shocks.

In thinking about what I could sell my sled for...

Is the 18 worth $2,500 more?

For just powder riding are the shocks really that much better than what’s on my base model?

Is it worth the wrath from my wife?!
 
The 18 flat out runs and the clicker shocks are worth it! I put a slp pipe with competition can, springs, magnum force weights and he is pulling 8200 at 10,000 ft with 3 grams more weight in the tip then what slp recommends and it is in break in mode yet.
 
I would be shocked if you could make that deal for only 2,500.
Either used sleds are bringing top dollar in your area or you found a dealer with some killer pricing on an 18 LE.

the 19's get released in about a month, that will drop the price on the 18's even more.... But will also make your 17 worth less.

Sounds a lot like the 12's were better than the 11's, 13's were better then 12's deal. Somehow the same motor seemed to be better every year ;) I agree they improved the reliability a little but my 15 didn't have anymore power than my 11...
 
The 18 does run just a bit better all the way though the range. The cooler temps have been very nice for the trail rides in. That alone have made it worth it.
 
17 goes everywhere an 18 goes. Shocks make no difference in powder, at least to me and my sled with the clicker shocks vs my sled with stock shocks. Your money, decide if a bit better is worth the upgrade. I am happy till something new comes out. especially with no snow to ride!

I suppose the answer depends on just how much money you have. If your answer is yes then dude, you gotta LOT more money than I do. I would have to be REALLY wealthy in order to justify the upgrade you are talking about.
 
Sure hope your 17 will reach and hold RPM. Mine won't and I am getting tired of it. Anybody know if the 2018s are having these issues?
 
Have done it all. Mounts, exhaust valves and cable, TPS, clutch balancing, clutch alignment, etc.
 
Primary gone through by Indy Dan about 300 miles ago and belt to sheave clearance was set then. It is still good. Deflection is good as per Indy Dan's instructions. I know there are theories on clutching and also about throttle plates opening too far. Will be pulling air box (again) and check throttle plates. I am a fairly decent mechanic but I am the first to admit that I am very ignorant when it comes to clutching, especially helix angles.

My sled is all stock and will reach/hold RPM; runs strong - might be for sale if you are in the market. lol

Sorry to hear though as it really sucks when things don't run right.

What has dealer said?

Curious if it held r's before Indy Dan's work?

This is why I really like keeping things stock; these new sleds just flat out rip at stock, and if they don't it's warrantied and let the dealer deal with it.

Sled is stock other than a can but had same issue before can and clutch balancing. Dealer is last resort. They live and die by digital wrench but may end up heading that direction. My riding partner has a 2018 Axys and pulls 2 grams more weight than Polaris recommends at 6500 ft. and he could add a little more weight as he hits limiter quite often. His sled is really strong. Sorry for getting off topic everyone.
