Wolf Creek Monday-Wednesday next week?

sorry to high jack the thread buy we are coming to Colorado from south Dakota for the first time and we bought the Wild Skies Cabin package at the rocky mountain elk foundation for this next weekend 3/7-3/11 and am wondering if they are getting any of the snow you guys down south are?

I don't think they got 4 feet but they really only needed a couple for the riding to be great.

We're coming from Iowa on Thursday and staying in South Fork. Any tips on where to ride this weekend? Thanks

I've been in pagosa all weekend.. They got 72+ inches last week.. Been snowing all weekend, expecting 36-48 next two days but high winds and blizzard conditions per forecast. I'll be headin over wolf creek this afternoon and can update. It's heavy wet snow high moisture content! Fyi

We rode down low around 8-9000 ft and it easy had 3-4 feet of fresh ... Visibility was bad so we stayed low waiting for it to clear.... Looks like it's gonna be late week before blue skies...

Wolf Creek is already explained by Joe, so follow that advice.

If you got a group, I would suggest you go at least one day to the ride between Creede and Lake City. Less people, and not as tight fit as Wolf.

Wolf Creek has a name for snow, which is fine. But don't forget your only 50 or 60 miles from the most badass mountains in the Rocky Mountain chain. Silverton, Telluride, etc. etc. are on whole deferent level. Even it's if it's just to drive through and look at. Just some crazy majestic mountains over to the west.

I love this old pic, shows the expanse of impressive peaks looking SE from the top of Black Bear Pass (West side of Red Mtn Pass). Just know that these big steep mountains are going to be VERY dangerous places for the next couple of weeks.

2 more Canadians heading down to chase the snow. Is there a real advantage to going all the way down to South Fork or would it be just as good to Stage in Buena Vista and ride Cotton Wood area? Thanks!

I would say no about going all the down there and skipping the North CO, but not sure if Cottonwood would be the place.

PM sent.

Looks like we're heading down from idaho also. I would love more info on good snow maybe more to the north as well. Thanks never had to chase snow like this kinda sucks. We are planning on riding Thursday thru saturday.

I'm game to ride with anyone from out of state. Vail pass tomorrow. I have been off the site this week because I'm in the process of buying a house.

Well we have been riding the last three days and it's been just unreal conditions, turbo 174 has been must... Snow set up a bit yesterday but still very good at wolf creek... A trip that was so worth the drive... Lots of sleds fueling this morning... The word is out

Back to riding
