Wolf Creek conditions

Yeah, there was still a little bit of snow up there today. Had to take a little PTO and get up there before the weekend crowd had at it. Got my 1st, 2nd and 3rd stuck out of the way. Should be pretty good riding through the weekend.

What trail did y'all take to get there? Any where near 381? off 160 or more south?

Sorry I don't know the Forest Service numbers for the roads up there. Go to very top of Wolf Creek Pass on HWY 160. Park in the parking lot on the south side of the highway where the sign marking the top of the pass is located. Go through first meadow heading southwest and follow the tracks. There is all kinds of riding back there. Most of it you can't see from the road and would never know it's there.

How's the base snow looking, gonna stick, or be scary all winter?

I think it's gonna stick. There's 3-4 feet up there already or more in spots. It's getting covered up pretty good. We are so far ahead of where we were last year at this time. If we get that storm next week it's gonna get to the point where I won't be worried anymore about wrecking my sled or myself.

Hey everyone! Anyone get a chance to check out Wolf Creek yesterday or today? Just trying to get an idea if the latest storm has brought enough to get a good base. Thanks!

I'm most likely going to head up on Sunday. I'll post an update if I get out. Just checked the snow report and they got 11" in last couple days. The base should be pretty good by now.

Got out today for about 4 hours. The 20" made a noticeable difference from last week. I actually think the base is pretty good for late November. I think part of avoiding the stumps is knowing the areas to avoid riding early in the season. There were a few areas I hit where it was coming over the hood-that ain't bad for late November!

The groomer was out today and all the trails were groomed-if anyone cares. The creeks are also finally starting to freeze over.

It was snowing a little bit when I left yesterday around 2:30. It hadn't been snowing the whole time I was there so I didn't think much of it. Another foot! Dang that's almost 3 feet out of this storm.

If I wasn't burning 2 weeks of vacation at the end of December I'd be taking a day off this week to go ride again. I wish some of this snow would start falling a little closer to Durango so I could hit some closer riding areas.

I haven't been there since I posted my last update, but I know that area hasn't gotten any new snow in about a week. The good thing is that it hasn't really warmed up much, so most of what was already there, will still be there.

I'd try riding up towards Summitville at least one day. It's a bigger riding area than the one at the top of the pass. Probably a better chance of finding untracked snow.

I'll be up there tomorrow headed up around ten from Pagosa. Any of you guys want to check the area out. Rest of my crew ditched out so solo tomorrow. Ill have the green dodge with the white enclosed.

They got 2" this past weekend, but nothing since then. It's supposed to start snowing Thursday night and snow through Saturday. The forecast on opensnow.com says that area is supposed to get hit pretty good. Saturday and Sunday should hopefully be pretty good days to ride. I've been looking at the ski area's snow report and it's been in the low to mid 30's the past couple days, so I'm sure they've had a little melting going on.
