witch turbo kit is better Silber or Boondocker?

I went with Silber hands because of the service and great product. Pretty hard to find a bunch of unhappy customers that ran he's turbos.

i have a new 2012 polaris assault with boondockers race kit running about 12 psi on it and i now have 3 rides on it, and from the day the turbo was put on i have not touched the box once the tuning that came pre programmed is spot on clean crisp throttle response sweet sweet power to boot.i am riding anywhere from 6k to 10k and it WORKS. great job boondockers on a outstanding kit

Just my two cents but they are not similar in price. One is 4600 dollars with everything included. Notice there are no upgrades available. You buy a complete kit from the get go. The other is 4700 (4695) and doesnt come with the ebc, gauges, or the timing key....which are all selling points that make this years kit "better" and supposively things that were tested late season that made the sled finally "run great". IMO, if you do research all the guys from last season are spenging money upgrading there kit from the 2011 model, which is essentially the option 1 kit minus the addition of the new torque builder air box and the extra injectors. But you have to send in parts of your kit that was promised to work on three injectors last year. Even if you can make the claim that the option one kit with the new injector setup and air box fixed all the issues from last year, your still comparing kits that are essentially 700+ or so dollars different factoring the gauges (359.00) and ebc (350.00+? not on site yet).e i said most guys are ordering the parts this year to make ther kits the option 2 model, at which comes in around 5800 dollars.

My decision was made directly upon personal interaction with both companies and being able to ride both. I have owned some great running BD sleds in the past but support and product swayed me another route this time.

Just curious, and maybe no one has had the chance to test yet, but what type of boost numbers are you gonna see out of the sibler kit? Also, is there a gauge to record the charge temps? 7-10k elev.

There are two threads on here showing video etc of the new kits running. The most recent was Stray***** who had built a 12 with a Silber. Worth a read I think. Seems to be running pretty well, I know he had a great ride this weekend. As to the charge temps....I do not believe that there are ways to monitor in the kit, to all my recollection charge temps were not an issue last year with the kit? Can anybody chime in on this?? I know they have not been an issue this year so far....

Let me know if there is a get together. I am in......if we ever get any snow.

Still no snow AO? Come to Whistler with us next week with Smash....

good post

^^^^^^^Excellent post. I do know the video you are talking about as well. That sled sounds so much better than some of the other 800 turbos I have rode with. This thread has all the makings of a Ford vs. Chevy duel, but I think you did a great job of presenting just straight up facts and letting people decide for themselves. Maybe I will take the liberty of posting the video of the Silber kit, I think it does a good job of illustrating how that kit runs.

what do you guys think about the aerocharger kit ?

when you read about aerocharger it looks like it is the best option. But I personally asked Brett Rasmussen about aerocharger and he was not a fan, if a remember right he talked about some problems controlling the boost.

Just an observation, When Silber starts to produce as many kits as Boondockers he will have his phone shut off on nights and weekends too...

Correct me if i am wrong but wasnt the cheap price for Silber the snowest %20 off group buy or something? I thought they were really close to same price... either way, both are nice kits, clean, shiny, and happy happy fun!

I want in on this steak dinner deal... Had a buddy with a ported, piped Pro last year that ran really, really well. Climbed some crazy stuff with it. But my cat at 7lbs boost and boosted pro at 8 lbs (both running straight 91) would make it look stupid... even more so on the ridiculous deep days... See Boondockers 8 movie for the proof... :face-icon-small-coo

oh and I like my Boondocker Turbo... it freakin rocks!

BD for ME! Im sure the Silber kits are fine but i cant help but think BD has the edge overall. Way more experiance and some nice options. The only down side is the BD is a bit pricey in comparison.

Silber actually answering his phone is the biggest seller in my opinion. It's the customer service that puts the icing on the cake. From what I have seen when I ran yamahas was the little bit smaller builder that had the time to really tune had the best kits. The bigger names always ran good but boost for boost wouldn't make the same power.

I think both are good kits and think bd has some extra bells and whistles but have yet to see a video of one that has the throttle response of silbers.

Should be a good season with pros this year a lot more turbos this year.

Mr Phatty.... I could be wrong but I would venture to say that BD at Silber have similar "Pro" kits on the snow.... With that said I only am speculating based on a few conversations and what I have read. No hard numbers. I 100% agree that they have more kits total on the snow including all the models they sell for. But they also have in the neighborhood of ten full time employees. Silber has 3 to my knowledge.

A company should grow with production, if they have too many kits on the snow to answer questions and be helpful then maybe the business plan should be evaluated.

Similar situation with Skinz this year....if you cannot keep up with production and demand than re-organize. Don't make excuses for lack in support, fix the problem.

Understanding that the economy might play a part in being able to keep a large staff on hand, I think BD does what they can, but it seems to be a general consensus that support is worth a million bucks in this industry.
