If your only going to run pump gas 6# of boost, I wouldn't waste my $4500+ on a turbo.
Just buy a pipe/fuely/clutch for just over $1k. At 6# the turbo will have more power, but it won't be an overwhelming power increase.
I prefer silber to BD. To me fit and finish is cleaner on silber and seems he was the only one to have his mapping dialed last year. Always seems boondocker rushes a product then you have to pay for the updates when should have come like that from get go.
Ebc is nice but not really needed imo, more for fun. Plus you set your fueling and clutching to a certain boost so sort of defeats the purpose.
I really beg to differ, at the high altitudes we run, you can easily run 6-7 lbs and the silber kits are a blast. You always have the option of turning it up if you want to run better fuel.
Pump gas is pump gas, as in 11 gallons of $3.90 fuel out of a pump, fill it up and ride all day.
I've run N/A sleds for years with guys who have pump gas setups, and from my experience, those 3 or 4 days a year when the snow is so deep that you can hardly make it off the road, a pump gas setup won't go but 20' or 30' further than a well running NA sled. 6# at my elevation is 150-160 hp. Put some race fuel in it and turn it up to 12# and MAYBE your pushing 210 hp.
I've had pump gas guys tell me "I've got $16k into this sled and your NA sled runs right with it".
Personally, I wouldn't run my turbo sled without some sort of octane enhancment and I get non eth 91 oct just 4 miles from my house. And I'd bet a steak dinner that you 6#-7# guys are putting some sort of enhancement in your tanks as-well.
Have you ever owned a turbo? My pro at 7 pounds on 91 octane will blow the doors off a stock Pro....Not 20 feet further, but over the top while you stuck on the hill further
Maybe you ride low elevation but in Colorado the turbos shine.
I think all the kits are great but support is the difference between a happy customer and a frustrated one. Justin and his dealers will go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. Try calling BD on the weekends or the evenings after you have had a rough day with the tuning. Justin is always available if possible and all his customers have his cell. Now as to the OP's question./ Our shop decided to sell Silber this year instead of BD because after seeing and riding both kits we thought the Silber was the best running kit and also the best value to our customers.
I'm sure the BD stuff will rock this year, but my Silber kit makes me grin every time I ride it....and that's what its all about.
What area do you live in? I ride Hope Valley/Sonora/Truckee. We should put the 2 kits together. My buddy has a new 12 HM pro as-well, and I know the dealer out of Reno is putting an areo kit on a 12 this season. I also know several cat turbo guys.
Seems like a N. Cali turbo day is in order.
Silber
E. His new CAI is slick and makes noticebly more power.
We ride bowman lake most of the time, sometimes castle peak. I want to get to sonora again this year, went two seasons ago on my boosted apex. We should get together. Guys I ride with are mostly stock besides one who runs a impulse nytro.
What about when you grad a hand full when boondocking. What one spools the fastest? I have a boosted cat, but I will ride my pro any day if I'm in the trees playing.
