witch beacon is better

test yourself

get yourself as dizzy as possible, close one eye and walk buy lifting your knees to your chest. NOW see witch one is easer to use.

(or you can just buy a tracker) in times of stress simplicity is key!!!

agreed with T/A.. very good beacon.. also like my orthovox D3..

I like the size and style of the peeps freeride.. but decided against it because its a single antenna unit which means no good for multi-buries..

Bca

After taking an avy class last year & having hands on experience with different beacons, I would go with the BCA. I plan on upgrading from my SOS as soon as I find the extra $$. The BCA was really easy to use IMO.

3 antenna beacon

It sounds like the general consensus is the same, and I would also agree that the Tracker is an easy beacon to use; However, I have since found out some more info and will share.
If getting a new beacon you may want to look into a beacon 3 antennas. It is slightly newer technology and helps with differentiate the different flux lines, and this is very use full during the pin point. While pin pointing you are very close to being over top of the beacon you are looking fore, and this is when it becomes very helpful to have the 3rd antenna/3D.
I have a tracker and it is very easy to use if there is only one beacon/person in the avalanche. However if there are 2 or more beacons buried close together (say within 6, 8 or 10 meters) it becomes much harder to pin point there locations because the tracker is getting signals from all 2 or 3 beacons and it is directing you in 2 or 3 directions. With the newer beacons you can mark and ignore a beacon so you can focus on a single beacon.

I have attached a link with a bunch of reviews on them. I would personally recommend looking at Pulse Barryvox, Pieps DSP and Ortovox S1. I have used the tracker for 4 years now and just recently purchasing the Pulse.

Mammut is my first choice.
The real truth behind the beacon...... It does not matter how good your beacon is. They all give off the same signal. The important thing is that all the guys you ride with have good quality beacons and know how to use them......:D:D

glad you like the D3. Multiple burials having nothing to do with the number of antennas. More antennas mean you do not have to re-orient your beacon to the flux line as often. multiple burials are solved with the same, simple techniques you can do on any beacon.
